Whops, the @… crashed today as there's been a new #panoramax instance, for Wales, popping up over night!
It should run again normally tomorrow, it happened as there's a temporary mismatch between statistics that the meta-federation delivers and the actual number of instances 😂

Had a blast at our little #OpenStreetMap birthday celebration. 🍰 🧉
It ended up being too windy to fly drones for long. Instead we recorded street-level images for #panoramax and GPS tracks, in addition to doing a lot of live surveying – using a huge range of tools that allow contributing to OSM!
In no particular order we at least used: @…, @…, @…, @…, HOTOSM's ChatMap, iD and JOSM.
Having so many different ways of making contributions is a real feature.

Gonna meet up with friends to celebrate, do some on-the-ground surveying, probably also walk around with a 360° cam to get imagery for @…. And fly a drone, to get some nice aerial imagery while we're at it! 🗺️ 📷

That @… now links out to the #panoramax images if they are annotated on objects (using the `panoramax=` tag), it's a good reason to go through existing sequences and link images to things!

It's always funny when the object recognition of #Panoramax sees faces/license plates in random things and blurs them.

Already worked on a small improvement to @… – to provide some more context in the alt-text of the images.
The best idea I've come up for now: Get the features that close to the location of the image from #openstreetmap to get an idea what's "on the map" there.

Over the last 1 1/2 days I've hacked together a little Mastodon bot that posts once a day to update on how the #panoramax federation is evolving in terms of instances, images, and contributors.
I'm sure there's still plenty of bugs, but you can follow it under @… and it made its first little thread here: #openstreetmap
