NASA’s #Perseverance Mars rover has driven farther than any vehicle ever has on the surface of another world - on Oct. 11, the rover’s odometer reached 45.22 kilometers, eclipsing the record of 45.16km set by NASA’s Opportunity rover, which explored Mars from 2004 to 2018: https://science.nasa.gov/blogs/perseverance-mars-rover/2026/10/12/nasas-perseverance-sets-off-world-record-for-total-distance-driven/ (Perseverance reached the mark on the 2006th sol of its mission, covering in five and a half years a distance that took Opportunity almost 15).

Great to see Perseverance's succes.

Earth and the Martian moon Phobos dance together in a series of images recently acquired by NASA’s #Perseverance Mars rover: https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasas-perseverance-rover-watches-earth-vanish-behind-martian-moon/?utm_source=iContact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=1-nasajpl&utm_content=media-perseverance-20260805 - Earth appears as a point of light in the Martian sky, disappearing behind the crescent of Phobos, the larger of Mars’ two moons; this is the first time humanity has captured from the surface of another planet an observation of Earth disappearing behind an object.
