Yes, a president that imprisoned the opposition would require that that president get a glitzy, overdone military uniform with lots of gaudy medals and a big hat with lots of gold braid.
I raise the possibility because admitting that that extreme thing could be done under a rule of immunity also admits that many lesser things, things more subtle and less visible to the public, would also be possible, and protected by immunity.
