It's so funny and weird, I keep seeing these things about modern oi punk getting stale or uninteresting in places like France, etc, and I'm like.. really? Where? Which bands? 😂 I only see and hear really amazing stuff coming out of the oi scene lately all over, like- even more great stuff than I've ever heard before 🤔

SS - Live at Shinjuku Loft (1979)
I wish there was more of this amazing footage 🤩
SS was one of the first Japanese punk bands, and they had a really cool style.
Active between 1978 and 1979 in Kyoto. Never released any music in their brief time. EP in 1984 is pretty good.

the new bio of the clean by richard langston is just tremendous. deepened my love for the clean's music & them as people in every way. soulful & detailed & ecstatic (& sometimes quite sad) oral history of how psychedelic #punk happened in new zealand. #books

CH3 - “Fear of Life” LP (1982)
This is such a great album, and yet I don’t see it mentioned often when reading about bands from this era.
Their sound was a really interesting mix of punk and traditional rock, which was unlike most of the other LA bands they played with.
Some really good variety from song-to-song too.
