Einen Joystick selber bauen ist eigentlich ganz einfach. Man braucht als erstes eine Brotdose. #VCFe #VCFe25 #vintagecomputing

My Greaseweazel arrived today - in a conveniently sized cardboard box - which it was easy enough to mount it in.

A greaseweazel USB->Floppy board, wired to a floppy cable and a USB-C; but mounted in a cardboard box.

Anyone know what happened to harkeofficial? Her youtube hasn't been updated in months, her tiktok is private and has no followers. Her instagram is gone.
I hope she is well but I doubt anything good has happened. I always assume stalker. 😬

Are you aware, that the very first Docker release already was 13 years ago, in March 2013? #vintagecomputing #retrocomputing #docker

Hth does a Cumana set of dual 5.25" half-height drives weigh 5.8kg?
It's got two separate (small) transformers for some reason; did NEC make the drives out of depleted uranium?

Free topic for you #retrocomputing YouTubers, the Zoomed Video Port.
Didn’t find videos about it in my admittedly cursory search.

So I look through my pile of 8" floppies for @… thinking I'll have a few random ones to send him, and I find a motherload of Perq floppies!

A letter from Royal Signals and Radar Establishment, dated 1990 to go with a 'R5 Perq2 Boot Floppy for POS'
A pile of 8" floppies, some have ICL labels, some have PERQ systems labels, and include a Perq boot floppy, Perq installation tests, GKS and UKC tools for Perq.

Eek, opened my Series 7 model B up, assuming I'd just need to clean and do the RIFAs, but all the internal plastic is in a terrible shape - the board looks fine; just the plastic is terrible; pitted everywhere, and that side of the PSU!

Inside a BBC Model B computer, looking at the PSU; teh blastic next to it is bent away
Inside of BBC B case; the plastic is all pitted.

Does anyone have any service manuals/schematics/etc forr NEC fd1055 (or fd1050/1053) 5.25" floppy drives?
I've got one that's giving a disk fault 18 - which I think is not reading a sector so could be anything from alignment upwards; but occasionally gives a drive fault 10 (index sensor??)
But then again it could be the beeb it's attached to; so hmm suggestions welcome.
