So, I bought a dumb...and I'm so stoked for it to come in. This is gonna be so much awesome in such a small package, and my first tube TV in an eternity: the Sony PVM PVM-9044Q.

The IF-C01COMG card came in and it works perfectly. I'll put it through its paces after work, but for now the picture is great. Easy to install and worth every penny.

Almost done with my dream retrogaming setup. Shouldn't be too hard to get setup on the AV cart, and the gwscart switch is passing RGB perfectly out of both the outputs which means I can game on the CRT while also streaming if I feel like it.

Forgot to post this: the way I usually hook up multiple consoles to the RetroTINK: the gscart EuroSCART switch. All of the consoles I own have RGB out which makes it work out pretty well.

I vaguely remember an #Amiga game where you had to kill giant mutant ants. Half the game was a top-down view where you had to escape a hospital without getting caught. Anybody else remember that? #RetroGaming

Why do I keep buying CRT TVs? I now own 3 of them, and the new one is a Sony PVM-2530. I haven't seen many around, and I figured that September is a good time to grab a waaaay-too-expensive TV.

Looking for a edutainment MS-DOS game that teaches you cybernetics (systems thinking) with a (iirc) an economics and environment simulation. It must have been from the late 1980s or early 90s and I think it used EGA graphics. It may have been in German.
Rings a bell what game it is?
Update: found it! It’s called Ökolopoly #retrogaming #retrocomputing #cybernetics #kybernetik
So, figured I'd "fix" the mono output from the JVC TM-H150C CRT monitor by grabbing the Sony speakers off the PVM-2530 and attaching them to an amp. Works perfectly as the speakers are shielded and barely fit onto the second shelf. I officially have stereo sound for the smaller TV.

Got the convergence mostly fixed after trying to fix it previously. Learned a heluva lot, but time to enjoy the fruits of my labor.

Decided to test the MiSTer out on the Sony PVM with the RGB breakout cable through the gwscart switch: worked perfectly as well.

Got the modded PS1 (SCPH-5501) connected to the PVM via a gwscart switch using RGB (CSYNC). The switch doesn't seem to have any issues with the signal coming in from the PS1, and the Retro Gaming Cables cable (EuroSCART -> RGB Sync Audio) is absolute quality. If it weren't for Silksong at the moment, I'd be jumping into some retro games.

Last but not least: I've got an NESRGB on the way to the US from Australia. This is the final bit that I always wanted to install, and figured this Frankenstein's monster of a frontloader NES would be perfect with some nice RGB outputs instead of the standard composite outputs.

The new new case came in for the NES, fits perfectly. Still waiting on the replacement screw kit to come in along with the NES Slotmaster replacement which fixes the biggest issue with the frontloader. Even better: haven't sheared off any of the screws in the case unlike the previous one.

Things that were great this weekend: playing copious amounts of FF6. Put in about 24 hours into the game and I'm still not halfway in. Just an awesome game.
Things that weren't a great idea this weekend: Putting in 24 hours to the game. I swear that starting work this morning I could literally see CRT scanlines on my monitors while writing Terraform.

The Sony PVM-9044Q came in and initial testing looks great so far. I have the NES connected via Y/C In (a.k.a. S-Video) and the image quality is outstanding. There is some tube burn-in which is noticeable but pretty minor overall, nothing that will get in the way of playing games at all. Overall geometry looks good, doesn't really need a ton of correction.

The new TV came in and it has been beat to absolute hell. The TV itself is now slightly out-of-square, the front bezel was shattered (the top bit is kinda just stuck there as is the left-hand side), and the outer shell is pretty bent.
However, the tube is perfect and the TV is 100% functional (composite and S-video) which is absolute insanity. I'm not sure how I want to proceed on this one.
The Sony PVM-2530 is now in it's new home: a proper AV cart. Still need to calibrate everything, but it's one step closer to being used and enjoyed.

Yay, getting all the wireless controllers cleaned up. Had to replace a dead battery in one of the PS1 controllers, but they're looking pretty good now.

So, plugged in the SNES a few days ago and it lit up briefly then never powered on again. Fortunately, I managed to track down the issue: the power adapter was bad. Dug through my random assortment of power bricks and found another 10VDC adapter, plugged it into the SNES, and everything looks exactly the way it should (e.g. it powers on and works).
Now the wait for the JVC TM-150CG really begins.
Okay, final purchase for the NES: an 8-pin mini-DIN to SCART cable for the NES. Kind of a pain in the ass to track down, but RetroGamingConsoles had my back like always. Not a cheap cable, but it'll get the job done perfectly with respect to output from the NESRGB into the RetroTINK.

First power on of the Sony PVM-2530: major convergence issues. Fortunately I have the service manual and this should be very correctable. Still need to get the speakers cleaned up and attached to the PVM.

Okay, had to make a second order of components because we're kinda off the script for hooking up the NESRGB on the NESessity board. Grabbed a 7 pin header for the P1 controller so I can use the controller to change the RGB palette in use as I don't want to use a mechanical switch. Also, I really want to ensure I can remove the NESRGB without desoldering anything.
Also, it's recommended to use a second 5V linear voltage regulator, but I'm going to skip it. The reason it's recommended is that the OG NES frontloader 5V voltage regulator will overheat due to the small heatsink size. On this build, I'm pretty sure the regulator is more than sufficient to dissipate the extra heat...lol
