Yesterday's outdoor run. Today will be inside on the treadmill. Cooler temps, and I'm loving that. This run was windy and rainy, though, but I'm a glutton for punishment; I have not run at all for a few days.
I know I deserve a break after the half marathon, and I did in fact do that.
Some excellent fall colors are still hangin' on 🙀

Dann packe ich mich Mal warm ein und mache mich auf meinen Long Run für diese Woche... 12km, 0° 🥶

Not exactly “racing” the darkness, but perhaps more “pursued” by way of anguished plodding.
They’re doing construction on the school track I like to run on after dark, so now I have to be more intentional about when and where I run. 🏃♂️ 🌙

On Sunday, October 5, 2025, my wife and I are participating in the Canadian Cancer Society's Run for the Cure. This national fundraiser brings together communities across the country who will run or walk in support of all Canadians impacted by breast cancer. We are walking in honour of my mother, my two sisters, and both our daughters - all of whom have been touched by this terrible disease.
Our family isn't special as 1 in 8 women will face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, It is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian women, and all of us likely know someone who has battled it in the past, or is fighting it today. I encourage all Canadians to donate in honour of someone they know or simply to help their communities fight breast cancer. This cause is particularly important to us, especially this year, as we support our daughters, and I hope all Canadians get involved.

Slacking a bit this week, first run since last Friday. A bit humid, but manageable! Hopefully I'll get out the rest of the week and maybe throw in a weekend run.

A few snaps from last week’s trip to Forrest, VIC, in the Otway ranges. Taken on a morning run. #running #straya
Good Morning #ISWC2025! Best way to start a conference day with a morning run in the park!

It's 25 degrees (F) higher than normal today, so I got in a run. I keep thinking that'll be it; it will get cold, and I'll be #running inside most of the time. But then this happens 😆

If you go to a bigger running event you see a lot of people at the finish line who look really "run down" but at smaller events you get runners who are experienced and irrepressible even when it comes to heavy rain and steep hills

I just ran almost 10.5 miles without much planning or systematic preparation. Conditions were perfect, so I took advantage.
It was fantastic! I haven't enjoyed a run this much in quite some time.
I may regret it tomorrow, but I feel great now.

At the opening ceremony. Since 1992 this event has raised $522M for research and treatment, and survival rates have doubled. Looks like close to 1,000 people here getting ready to run and walk.

Last night's run: a decent one, but my night vision is not what it used to be, so a little slower than I would like.
Looking like outdoor #running tomorrow and Friday too with great weather. Today was a treadmill day, though, partially because that's all I had time for.
We shall see how long I can go with outdoor running this winter.
End of the week run on Friday, sub-9 pace—I'll take it.
I had some discouragement from my run earlier in the week. I ran after the flu shot, and it was a huge mistake (I had to walk, and some other things I'd rather not talk about). Alas, this was a great way to end the week!

#running slow is hard but my fitness is such that it requires a rebuild of the foundation. Trying to stay in HR2 means a decent amount of walking interspersed. I don’t love it, but it’s necessary.
I have a much more open schedule now, so I should be able to get out and run regularly. The trick will be staying patient and trusting the process.
Great temps for #running (I run hot)! It was a bit windy; the gusts were pushing me down the hill and holding me back on the way up!
Happy with my pace improving; seems to correlate with my overall health slowly improving too.

I'm still figuring out beta-blockers. And yes, they still suck when running. I don't think I'll be able to escape that.
I have been on the treads more lately; my tolerance for cold weather has been pretty bad. Getting older, post covid crud, who knows 🤷♂️
Grateful to be able to run and enjoy this weather today.

The leaves are ever so slowly starting to change color. Nice down-by-the-river run after work 😃 Vision was a little shaky, but I was able to do some exercises for that on the path, which is flat pavement, and that helped. Pace is slowly getting better.
