I sent this letter to my Courtenay-Alberni Member of Parliament, Gord Johns, this morning and copied it to Minister Anand (Anita.Anand@parl.gc.ca) and Prime Minister Carney (pm@pm.gc.ca). I encourage any Canadian reading this to consider sending something to your own MP and the Minister and Prime Minister. This is the very least we can do in these very dangerous and volatile times.

Will Venezuela try to quickly procure #RussiaUkraineWar inspired military drone materiel (ie. cheap, numerous) beforehand to use in defense... and is the American war machine, particularly the Navy, ready for that?
Don't be too surprised if at the start of things Venezuela pulls off some surprisingly destructive actions not unlike Argentina vs UK in the Falklands with French exocets.

“Smith said she got Carney to back down on most of the Trudeau-era "nine bad laws," as she calls them, that restricted oil and gas development in Alberta.
Carney, meanwhile, says he got Alberta to buy into the Pathways carbon capture project to try and decarbonize the oil pumped out of the province.”
It would be like Putin saying he got Zelenskyy to back down on Donbas and Crimea, but Zelenskyy says Putin agreed to security guarantees from Russia and the USA.

Is it time for Canada to ramp up its own defense industry?
We may not be capable of building the really large stuff. But I am thinking a focus on the essentials, mainly defensive or dual use.
Drones. (Land, sea and air)
Air Defense systems.
Armoured Personnel Carriers (we already do)
Ammunition
Artillery.
Small Arms.
We already produce some of this. We could produce more. Do we produce Air Defense systems currently?
Unfortunately the world is in need of more, not less, arms.

2025 was the year of appeasement... of Europe and NATO.
My prediction for 2026 is that this will be the year Trump fully turns his back on Europe completely and officially turns American foreign policy to one of “non-alignment”.
This means the USA will officially or through effective posture, suspend its membership in NATO.

Now #TheAmericanFascist has appointed an 'envoy' to help convince Greenlanders to ditch Denmark and join the USA. Denmark is shocked and angered, as they should be. Greenlanders are wholly opposed.
There is poetic irony of a Louisiana politician being tapped to lead a "Greenland Purchase" by America. I very much doubt the result will be the same. But there are some interesting parallels.
Lousisiana Purchase (1808)
a) Made possible by squabbles and warring in Europe.
b) involved purchase of 2.14 million km2 of North America for $380 Million in 2024 dollars. Greenland is 2.17 million km2.
It's difficult to fathom just how undervalued the Louisana Purchase was...nevermind the whole — selling Indigenous Lands without Treaty — issue. But hey... that would be another parallel with today's Inuit and Greenland Peoples.
Back in the modern context, America's Fascists just want to do Fascist things like take over sovereign countries and oppress nations, not unlike Hitler, the Kaiser's Germany, the Napoleans, Imperial Britain, Conquistador-ist Spain, and Tsarist-Stalinist-Putinist Russia.
This all needs to be kept -- forefully if need be -- in the past. We cannot allow these regressive dictators to come back.
