This, folks, is a very fun video.
And informative.

Art of a hooded woman in front of a dark, mystical cavern
Stylized art of a woman and partially visible are her computerized insides
Art of a large egg shaped object with floating rocks around it and a spaceship flying by
Art of people hiding in the foreground from a group of aliens descending from their ship

Hihihi.
An old hard #sf story. An interstellar ship goes astray because... someone punctured the wrong holes in the computer tape.
Aw man... anachronisms like this almost make me understand the impulse to solve everything with technobabble...

Riya's Foundling, by Algis Budrys, is a weird, weird story.
I rather liked it.

A little frustrating to read, as seems to be the standard for this series. I liked the lost colony idea, but the presentation is very fragmented. I guess that's on purpose, but it doesn't work for me. I wont be getting part 4 of the series, I'm done.

Alien Clay: fascinating xenobiosphere fascism
Shroud: fascinating xenobiosphere capitalism
Is there any book by Tchaikovsky where our future society isn't a nightmare?
Not a rhetorical question, I very much liked those two books, that's why I'm curious about how he'd write a livable future.

I like Tchaikovsky's views on genAI, from the there's no "I" in it and the Chinese Room argument to what he says about the artistic process. Oh, and his advice to young writers / artists: "I mean... don't use it?"
I guess it's a very Mastodon friendly interview:

Two minutes into Colony, the new zombie movie from Train to Busan's director and I'm going through phases:
1. Yes! If you make a doomsday pathogen, you store it in knurled metal thingies. Knurled metal is the best.
2. And slime mold pictures laying around? You're my favourite mad scientist!
3. Oh no, you printed Windows screenshots instead of printing the documents. You are dead to me.

I don't want to be that guy, I don't know how this biotech will pan out, but I really want to say:
Hey! I know the name of this Torment Nexus! It's called Korrok! From John Dies at the End!
