I have Copilot Premium through work and I was trying to use it to troubleshoot an issue with my home server, but it suddenly gave me a restricted error after posting the out put of a command it asked me to run. Go figure. #SelfHosting #AI

tired: #SelfHosting w/ a commercial NAS device
wired: Buying a case and building your own NAS
inspired: Murray's Cheese charcuterie board -> NAS

A board (maybe 18" square) with a hardboard bottom and 1" wood sides. Imprinted (burned) into the side, a Murray's Cheese logo.
Two 5" PC fans in the corner. A 3.5" hard drive with USB attachment is positioned between the two fans, held up by a finger, to show the position of where the drive will be. A taken-apart laptop is in the background that will sit on top of the case.
The cheese board has been cut into half , and each half is positioned to create a tunnel between the two PC fans.

Periodic reminder for people interested in #HomeLab and #SelfHosting
There is a @… bot that replaces the old gup.pe homelab bot.
Mention it in your homelab or self hosting posts and it will boost them. Follow it to see all the homelab posts it boosts that may not normally get federated to your instance.
For those who don’t know, these bots exist because when you look for a a hashtag, your server only checks the posts that have been federated to it.
In order for a message to be federated to your server, the author (or one of the people boosting it) have to be followed by someone on your server. If no one touching the message is being followed, it’ll never get federated to your server and you won’t see it.
Hashtags are great for finding messages, but only messages that were federated to your server. They don’t help message propagation.

Trying out #Vikunja as a todo / project manager. It's super easy for #selfhosting with #nixos, and just has some media files and an sqlite database to store and backup.

Periodic git-extra-commands announcement
#git helper scripts and other git-related resources I've accumulated over the years.
You don't need a ZSH framework to use it - the framework code just adds the repo's bin directory to your PATH automatically.

Delighted to announce that I'm SCROBBLING once more (first time since 2020)! How could I have lived without that wonderful verb?!

On the subject of de-shitification, while #Nextcloud covers a lot but with glitches and gotchas in the 0.x version apps, the big hurdle is self-hosting email with spam filters.
I haven't configured email in a long time, and then it was Sendmail, and dimly recall validation hoops to jump that made "let gmail handle that" seem like a good idea…
Someone posted a docker pre-config for Postfix, so my question is if it would feasibly run on an rpi5 that also runs nc jellyfin and wp, and does this cover outbound emails being accepted as not-spam? #selfhosting
