I still need to spend more time learning TrueNAS and how to get container applications running properly. It's much more complex than OpenMediaVault.
Some applications do just work, but many seem to need a lot more care and configuration to get working as desired.

I love how keybase is a poor man's web server monitoring tool.

okay #linux and #selfhosting nerds, here's a question for ya. I have a bunch of drives that use USB enclosures. I have an older USB 3 enclosure (its chipset has to use linux's usb-storage driver). I have two identical versions of a newer USB 3.2 enclosure (chipset uses linux's…
As one of my next #selfhosting projects I wanted to compare #ttrss and #freshrss
Seems like the choices just narrowed down to freshRSS. TTRss is discontinued -- at least until anotherone wants…
If you're interested in #selfhosting, here's a reminder that there is a new bot that replaced the old a.gup.pe bot. The bot improves message propagation.
@…
For those who don’t know, these bots exist because when you look for a a hashtag, your server only checks the posts that have been federated to it.
In order for a message to be federated to your server, the author (or one of the people boosting it) have to be followed by someone on your server. If no one touching the message is being followed, it’ll never get federated to your server and you won’t see it.
So yes, hashtags are great, but they don’t help message propagation nearly as much as bots can.
Edit: tyop fix

Estoy haciendo upgrade a Proxmox 9 en la instalación que tengo en el lab de mi trabajo. Si esto sale bien, cuando tenga tiempo hago el de casa.

Hi @… !
It happened: my raspberry pi is too small for my homelab. What would you recommend I upgrade to?
I heard mini PCs are all the rage, but where to start? Any good guides available?

I finally stuffed more drives into my TrueNAS box and got the covers back in place. The next step will be to get it off the floor and onto a shelf.

Today, one of my best friends told me that he's installed eMule on his NAS because "he's sick and tired of Netflix not having what he wants when he wants it." I've never had Netflix or anything like that, but I guess it makes sense.
Welcome to the dark side, mate.

Hey #selfhosting #fediverse
I have an old-ish laptop with Ryzen 3550H and Nvidia 1650 mobile GPU. I haven't used it in over a year and so I was thinking of reusing it for something.
I need ideas - I already have PiHole on a RPI 3b, maybe I can go with Jellyfin and/or NAS …
I use Teedy for document management on my Docker server. The downside is that this application does not allow you to set your preferred language; it chooses it itself based on your browser's language.
What a pain. The Spanish translation is so bad that I had to write a tutorial to figure out what each button does.

Testing Tugtainer on my Docker server, a service that checks for available updates for your containers. So far, so good. It has a nice and easy interface. #selfhosting
