SFMTA is proposing eliminating the Clipper discount and raising all fares to $3.00, which may be(?) the highest bus fare in the country. Also, they’re using AI slop to illustrate their slides now. #sfpol

Today I saw a 14R miss the green light on Mission at 24th St, despite the green being extended for the bus. It was stuck behind a long line of drivers illegally going straight. This is supposed to be a right turn only except Muni. Scofflaw driving is defeating transit priority on Mission Street. #sfpol

Two cars in the red, bus-only lane that goes straight, instead of the right-turn only lane that is the only lane legal for them to use. A sign says right turn only, except trucks, buses, taxis and bicycles. Up ahead you can see a line of cars that have just made the same illegal move, backed up through the intersection.
A picture facing the other direction. The same white SUV is visible as in the first picture, and a 14R Mission Rapid bus to Ferry Plaza is behind it.

Today’s one small action to push SF progressives away from the embrace of car brain.
All candidates who have filed in that district oppose the park, so it’s an easy call that she would be my first place vote if I lived there, regardless. But unless that stance changes, am I spending my precious time on her campaign? Nah. #sfpol

A volunteer or staffer text banks me to come to Natalie Gee’s supervisor campaign kickoff. I reply that as a supporter of Sunset Dunes park, I can’t support a candidate trying to close the park, although I’m aligned with Natalie on other issues and love her labor background.

Shameful how the SF government has let the Turk protected bike lane, once a success story, degrade. #sfpol

Flex post-separated bike lane blocked completely by an SUV. There is a line of SUVs in the lane in front of that one.

Apparently Mayor Lurie is making a "safe streets" announcement Monday at 11 at City Hall. Hopefully the announcement is that he's resigning. That would be a huge win for safe streets. #sfpol

On the one hand, this is absurd. On the other hand, I encourage Alan Wong to lead by example and demolish his own Sunset home to replace it with a parking lot.
Yup, this is the quality of our Lurie-appointed D4 supervisor #sfpol

More Parking for the Sunset

Image of cars in an angled parking lot

Whether it's fighting for a spot on Irving, circling Noriega, or trying to park anywhere near Taraval on a Saturday, you know how frustrating it can be. I've made parking access a priority for District 4, and have formally asked SFMTA to identify where we can add more parking across the Sunset with a target response date of January 15, 2026.

Know a stretch of road that could fit more spots? I want to hear from you -- sh…

I wonder if the bike movement in SF should pivot to bike lockers on residential streets.
"I don't bike in the city because I have no place to store a bike in my apartment building" is almost as common a story as "...because I'm scared of traffic." Maybe we would get less resistance pushing there at this moment. #sfpol

At the first SF Transit Riders member assembly! Plan is to hold these quarterly to update members, hear feedback and let members initiate projects. #sfpol

Joe Eskenazi's @… column today speculates that Connie Chan and allies will run a doomed prop to close Sunset Dunes park, just to turn out voters for Chan.
But a good chunk of No on K voters are in congressional district 15, outlined, and can't vote for Chan. #sfpol<…

Map of Prop K vote share by precinct across San Francisco, with an outline around an area of the city's interior along its southern border, containing the Oceanview, Outer Mission, Excelsior, Portola, and Visitacion Valley neighborhoods. All but one precinct in that area majority opposed K, and it includes about one-quarter of all the areas that opposed K.

Neat! The SFMTA board approved amendments to let bike racks be installed in daylighting zones without a public hearing.
