Yesterday on our bike ride we almost got a sun burn and two weeks ago I was snowshoeing in the mountains! It's wild 😉

Our #silentsunday was spent on a mountain trail half an hour from our home. About 400-500m elevation along such a trail. And we didn't meet anybody.
Maybe because the location is too unspectacular: no great summit views, no summit at all, nothing to buy drinks or food - just a trail through patches of sun and shade with quite a few flowers along the trail.

My #silentsunday photo from a recent hike where I indeed saw the first little blossoms! I was so surprised to see them!
On the one side I was a bit sad as this means that winter is coming to an end and I did have far less winter hikes than wished. On the other side: spring is all around! Colors, more hiking routes, mountainbiking, ... all this is waiting 🙂

Anyways - to me, a silent sunday means to relax, no rush, seeing the little flowers near the trail. Taking the time to knee down and take a photo - just for the sake of capturing a silent moment.

#SilentSunday Southwark Cathedral, London.

The sun streams through the large windows in the south transept of Southwark Cathedral. There are tapestry union jack flags hanging from wooden rods that jut out beside the organ pipes on the left, in front of a plainly vaulted stone roof. On the far wall are some memorials with colourful ancient busts of important people, names and deeds now dimmed by time.

For today's #silentsunday I am thinking about wether I want to go to this place and take a similar photo (just now in winter) ... OR go to the place seen in the photo. 🤔
I might also have to check the nature & wildlife protection zones first.

A mountain lake with deep green water in front of a steep talus slope and vertical rock face going up hundreds of meters directly behind. The lower parts near the lake are covered in dense bushes of dwarf mountain pines and some larches, all faintly reflected on the lake surface. Yellow Crocuses. 61°F today in northern Colorado. Snowpack averages are less than 55% of normal, less than any year since 1987. March-April typically highest snowfall totals but probably won’t be enough to make up the shortfall, which will mean a busy umber for the firefighters.

Boulder Brook, #RockyMountainNationalPark September 2003

A cataract along Boulder Brook in Rocky Mountain National Park. The brook descends from near the top of Storm Peak down to Storm Pass, a spot along Bear Lake Road uphill from Sprague Lake. A trail follows the brook and this spot caught my eye. The brook is about 15’ across and a lot of water is rushing over some rocks throwing up white water the looks silky with a long exposure. A thin log extends from the left edge as though suspended over the water. September 2003

A photo taken at Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. It’s been snowing, and is still snowing. The sun has risen an hour ago and the clouds are not that deep so the sky is washed out. Across the bottom 2/3 of the image, dense pine forest appears hazy because of the large snowflakes falling gently.
