looking along cast iron railings towards a medieval church tower. railings with like scrolls. it is a limestone rubble tower with odd bits of ironstone on the corners. big top arch window with wooden slatted quatrefoil. wooden bell louvres. bottom window same as top only with leaded glass. small narrow window in the middle. weather vein, flag etc. purple sky just after sunset.

Looking East from the Ute Trail. November 2013.

Panoramic photo in Rocky Mountain National Park. Hiking along the Ute Trail, looking East thru the gap at Longs Peak at the left and the rest of the Front Range extending to the right. Sunrise is just a few minutes ago but in November that’s not so early. Clear blue sky above with pale haze over the plains to the East. So quiet, at around 10-11,000 ft, 3000-3500m, and no wind, fortunately. November 2013.

It's mid afternoon and the ridge on the right is casting harsh cold shadows. View down into a large, almost featureless alpine post-glacial valley without any vegetation other than grasses. The first sun of the day is illuminating some of the large slopes on the right hand side. The much steeper, almost vertical rocky cliffs on the left are still in the blueish shade, waterfalls running down every kilometer or so. The bottom of the valley is a deep and narrow canyon.
