Sarah Höfflin losing a ski on the takeoff. She was fine, but the look on her face in mid air ... plus she still got the grab! #olympics #ski #skiing

A skier has just left the lip of the kicker, in bright sunshine, and one ski is just coming loose. The cloud of snow on the lip behind her is testament to the edge that cut in.
Later in the same jump, she's coming round from a rotation, with a grab on the remaining ski, and is looking across at her rapidly departing left ski. The expression is a bit "WTF?"

Why is ski jumping always the source of the most absolutely bonkers stuff at the Olympics.
And did the writer *really* need this paragraph? Really!?

More skiing today. I'm not quite at For Your Eyes Only level, but I'm at least no longer a liability on the slopes (and Roger Moore had 4 years more years of practice when he did this...) I'm on day two.
