What the last couple of days have shown me is that, with some help from rclone, FreeBSD has become a truly viable alternative for my D2D for me. A triumvirate of Slackware, Chimera Linux and FreeBSD gives me everything I need and want, both in work and in private. A big relief.

My main work machine on 15.0 is fine but I am thinking of setting up a new machine and 15.0 feels a little old now. I sometimes have to spend longer upgrading a bunch of stuff when I need a new version of one pack…

@… : Just to give you a heads-up: all's well that starts well. After the 1273 updated Slackware pkgs (including yours) all is good on this end. For the sake of it I briefly switched to dms on hyprland: all good 👍🏻 Mango and noctalia ditto. Thanks mate 🍻

I run Testing on Slackware and I see some Xorg drivers being replaced with Xlibre ones (Wacom, AMD GPU). What's the bigger picture here? Oh, and let's put that out there prior: I have zero interest in unfounded ranting allegations, except my own's. Is Slackware moving to Xlibre?

After my blurb y'day of enjoying it on Kalpa, I liked it even better to see that AlienBob has Ungoogled Chromium in his repo, great stuff! Also, slackbuilds for Brave-Origin, Librewolf and Bottom are available (not by me) and up to date, so my SlackoSundries will get a big overhaul by September 1st.

You know what's the problem with Linux Mint? It's so damn good.
Apparently yesterday's update borked sth in my Slackware Current. SDDM and then everything stops, usb mouse and kb dead, radio or bluetooth. Look at it later.
Made an LMDE iso, booted with that and start salvaging some files, prior to surgery. Has always worked.
Because I have this Gentoo project to finish 😝

Nix is probably a pun by Eelco Dolstra, the creator of Nix, on the Dutch word 'niks', which means 'nothing'. "What are you doing? Niks!" Niksen means sth like doing nothing specific, just procrastinating. As such it's no coincidence I'm both a Nikser and a Slacker. I've found my space.
