Garter snake (Thamnophis sirtalis) yesterday at the mini-pond. I assumed it was there for a drink but can't rule out that it was looking for frogs or fish. I need to get the trail cam back at this location. #snake #pond

Yesterday I observed a pair of gray catbirds pursuing a small garter snake around the yard. Per an internet search they don't eat snakes but will chase them away from an area to protect eggs and chicks in nest. #birds #catbirds #snakes

Today, the 4th day of Shraawana month in the Hindu lunar calendar, is Naaga Chathurthi; tomorrow Naaga Panchami. Both days honor serpents (and snakes) with prayers made to the lord of serpents.🐍
