The #sunspot-littered #Sun at 14:42 UTC today, taken with a #BridgeCamera at high (slightly digital) zoom through old aluminized-mylar eclipse glasses: four of the 6 current groups - https://spaceweather.com/images2026/29jun26/hmi1898.gif - are easily seen, big 4478 and 4479 well resolved into umbra and penumbra and small 4480 and 4475.
At least five #sunspot groups are visible in this #sunset snapshot from #Bochum, Germany, today (note the newly visible big one at the limb at 11 o'clock) - see https://bsky.app/profile/cosmos4u.bsky.social/post/3mmugamvd422a for several other timesteps!
A large #sunspot group's emergence and growth has been captured by Solar Orbiter watchig the far side of the Sun - the region is expected to rotate into Earth-view on 24 June: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1423989686421557 (SWPC forecasters will then be able to fully analyze the region and adjust solar activity forecasts if needed).
RE: #Bochum #sunset on 25 June, with several #sunspot groups - AR 4478 at 10 o'clock: https://bsky.app/profile/vincentledvina.bsky.social/post/3mp4yl543zs2z
Standing oscillations in a resonant #sunspot atmosphere captured by integral field spectroscopy: https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/astronomy-and-space-sciences/articles/10.3389/fspas.2026.1826789/full -> "These results demonstrate the suitability of solar integral field units for spatially mapping sunspot wave properties, with the NaID1/D2 lines providing a novel vantage point for resonance cavity and energy flux diagnostics in the lower solar atmosphere."
After missing three #sunsets in #Bochum, here is today's - with THREE #sunspot groups on the disk now: top left to bottom right they are 4492, 4493 (which grew rapidly; see https://nitter.net/Bermani22/status/2079227596554809584) and 4489. Watch the last two disappear in later timesteps in https://bsky.app/profile/cosmos4u.bsky.social/post/3mr45ljgazc2e (where 4493 is misidentifed - because of https://spaceweather.com/images2026/20jul26/hmi1898.gif - as 4491).
During today's #Bochum #sunset the big #sunspot (1)4482 was seen in the lower right while at "10 o'clock" - above the church spire - the new group (1)4489 has just appeared on the disk. Later timestep: https://bsky.app/profile/cosmos4u.bsky.social/post/3mqkjezmlp22g
The two big #sunspot groups today around 15:00 UTC, taken with a #BridgeCamera: see https://skyweek.wordpress.com/2026/06/28/allgemeines-live-blog-ab-dem-28-juni-2026/#Jul01 for the exact technical data.
