Still can’t believe I can make images like this from my driveway
(125h LHaRGB combination)

A colorful group of galaxies, among them the lenticular galaxy M86 and the distorted galaxies “The Eyes” which collided with M86 eons ago. A trail of red gas connects the galaxies as a reminder of this violent past.

Still working on Markarian’s Chain, a galaxy cluster in Virgo.
First image shows two of the larger galaxies, “The Eyes”.
The second image shows very faint Hydrogen alpha emissions—which are just about starting to be visible after 20h of exposure time.

If each country's airspace included all the stars and galaxies (and black holes 🫣) "above" them, some might have overloaded immigration or court systems. Others would own the galactic core for a couple of hours every day. 😊

Some recent photons from my driveway, a very faint hydrogen gas bridge between two galaxies about 50 million light years away.
At some point in the past the larger galaxy collided with the one at the bottom and basically ripped it apart, dragging some hydrogen gas with it.
This is about 52 hours of exposure time.

A monochrome image looking at Hydrogen emissions in the The Eyes and Messier 86 galaxies, and showing a very faint and brittle gas bridge between them. Arrows added to show where to look for, as it's very low contrast and hard to see.
