Pondering publishing as an industry.
It's a phenomenon that becomes possible when low-cost distribution at scale is available but to a relative scarcity of publishers.

I've recently been pondering about moving my e-mail out of #GMail to my domain, and I've finally started the process.
Why? Because I don't want to rely on #GAFAM. I don't want some US-based company with an army of lawyers to be able to play with my life. I don't want them reading and using my mails as they see fit. I don't want them impersonating me. I don't want them being able to "stop offering the service" to me, and suddenly cut me out from everything.
My new provider is #FTdL, and I'm really grateful for their services. The mail server is lightning fast, definitely beats whatever #Google is offering. I've chosen them primarily, because I'd rather donate towards a Foundation that does a lot of good for the Polish Internet, than pay for a commercial service.
The migration ain't easy. It will take a lot of time before I dig up all the websites where I've used my old mail, and either migrate them or request data deletion. Not to mention all these that don't even provide an option to change the e-mail address…
