may as well spam more snaps from the church before bed.
goodnight.
#church #grave #tombScrolling

a couple of corbels carrying the arches with grim and glum looking carved faces on perpendicular church walls. the church is at least 12th or 13th century. some parts possibly older.
an ivy surrounded, leaning slate gravestone in the churchyard behind a spiders web in the foreground full of feathery thistle seeds.
a Victorian cast iron radiator with iron pipework in a dark corner of the church under a low arched alcove
a tombstone i spotted on the floor of the church. most of the inscription is mostly worn away. it bears a carving of a heart ♡ with two arrows shot through in an X shape. And a date "-3 1716"
beauty and sadness.

a single grey gravestone, about 60% covered in white lichen. what looks like a carved sun shining rays of light from the top left corner.
a close up of the white lichen on a couple of the carved rays of light in the gravestone
some more beautiful lichen covered gravestones in the same churchyard with the south-east end of the church in the background

on the left is a small old and rugged gravestone, with large patches of white lichen. the gravestone is next to the graveyard dry stone boundary wall, also with patches of white lichen, the graveyard is on top of a steep and high hill, with a beautiful view overlooking the sea. i can just make out a few ox-eye daisies this side of the wall. and the tops of gorse, over the wall, then beyond that, wide open sea.
