For a family of 4 with 2 children the parents believe are too young to fly without a parent sitting adjacent to them...
If that family flies out of a smallish airport where nearly all destinations require a layover, under current rules requiring a fee for every seat assignment, that family will be paying 12 seat assignment fees. In many cases, it will exceed the cost of 1 ticket. It adds up fast.
