Uh. Is this a known #ubuntu thing? Or is this a quirk of #Wayland?
Sometimes when I bring a window from the background it stays like this, text and icons all garbled. Sometimes if I resize or jiggle it, it sorts itself out, sometimes I have to kill it.

wild kubuntu seem to have the nextcloud desktop app in the "store" regular ubuntu did not.
I had to run:
sudo apt install nextcloud-desktop
the nextcloud website has you download some appImage file that I have no idea how to use.
also nextcloud on kubuntu was slow as ass. settings pane took 30 seconds to open.

g'damit. why is it that even #ubuntu 25.10 still only has #libsodium v1.0.18? 1.0.20 is even getting stale (actually i just checked v1.0.21 is out since two weeks) and all i need is only 1.0.19, breaks my CI/CD pipeline.

If the UI completely freezes any special keyboard commands to get it to unfreeze? Or do I just need to hard reboot?

Firefox is choking on video on my 4k monitor on Kubuntu. Youtube's status for nerds is showing 10 - 20% of frames dropped.
Chromium is fine. I think removing all the monitor scaling helps but does not fully fix it.

GSConnect was interesting but I couldn't get the android phone to mount and I could only transfer one file at a time through the share option.
I'll just mount the phone with USB. wires are always better.

apps really freak out on ubuntu when coming back from sleep/ suspend/ logged out. Some appear but I can't click them. some have weird shadows on the borders. It's a hot mess.
How long do I have to use ubuntu before people will let me say that Windows is less buggy then Linux?

OKAY. back to windows it is. Installing KDE on ubuntu and it being super laggy and then trying to uninstall it has my my Ubuntu no longer loading a UI at all. it's just a console input.
I tried. now I probably just need to reinstall Ubuntu to get back to a baseline.

The multiple file GUI for ubuntu is not great. On windows you can incriment file numbers starting from any number... ubuntu lets you pick number format but it always starts from 1.
This is only a pain because of me ripping DVDs and trying to number episodes.

Just noticing how in #ubuntu 24 with 2 screens the frames dropped in youtube jumps when the other screen has a webpage that is anything other then a static bit of html. very upsetting!

hmmm... unclear but youtube started dropping frames again. Seems like the nvidia driver changes from 590 back to 570? I changed it back to 590 and I think it works better. small chance it's better because a computer restart?

hmmmm okay I tried to install KDE on ubuntu.... but I did it on X11 instead of wayland?? when I switch to wayland on the login screen and login it's not KDE though.. and trying to reinstall it doesn't do much.
also KDE is super laggy and runs badly.

TBH I don't really understand what gnome is. I guess it's the UI ubuntu uses?
but the Dash To Panel gnome extension feels great as someone who is coming from windows.
