60 years ago tonight (& last night), the grateful dead at the #vancouver trips festival, their 1st real trip out of the greater bay area for a purpose other than an acid test (despite the event’s name). the last shows/tapes of owsley’s original run as engineer (he returns in '68) & last recordings ’til october.

TransLink is opening two new fare gates at Yaletown–Roundhouse Station to improve accessibility, customer flow, and congestion during peak times and major events. The upgrades increase the total number of fare gates from three to five and add a second accessible fare gate to help customers move through the station more quickly and efficiently.

Hey Seattle/Portland friends.
Look out for information about this missing person. She was found, nearly dead, in the water near Vancouver BC in 2022. She died the next day, unidentified.
New analysis of pollen on her clothing indicates she might have just arrived to BC from the Seattle or Portland areas.
Apparently BC RCMP will be doing a news conference in the USA in the near future to try to find anyone who might recognize her.

The scary part is travel on August long weekend, and we're making it a day trip from #PortAlberni so busy ferries and other crossing modes are in our future!
Here's the price breakdown for the various transportation modes from #Nanaimo to #Vancouver, return, for 4 adults.
Results are predictable. The spread is wide between walking onto BC Ferries and flying 4 people on a sea plane! The Horseshoe Bay route on BC Ferries has a premium right now because of construction but it's actually shorter transit time to/from Vancouver from Tsawassen anyway.
My only worry about walking on the ferry is there might not be day parking at the terminal in the middle of a long weekend!

I am glad that the Qatar player, Assim Madibo, who broke Koné’s leg, sought out Kone immediately in the dressing room to apologize before Kone was taken to hospital.
He seemed genuinely distraught and upset after the tackle.
Some of the people on the Qatar bench need a good slap for their reactions... but on the whole, Madibo reacted in the right way, and that goes a long way to making what happened truly a tragic accident that can happen at any time in professional sports.
I wish Madibo well, and I hope Koné's recovery can be as quick, and complete as possible over the next few months.
And of course, I hope this gives Canada at least some added motivation and drive to get to the knockout stage and really make some noise in this thing!
