Spinning Purple Rain Vinyl 🤩 and even better... this was kiddos latest purchase. The kids are alright! #mucke #vinyl #Prince

The "Purple Rain" Vinyl album sleeve sits on a wooden sideboard. The main picture shows prince on a motorcycle with his purple 80s suite. In the background some more vinyls of Raye "This music may contain hope" and Michael Kiwanuka "Love & Hate"

i live in a small apartment without a lot of storage space. for LPs, i have two three-foot shelves, one for jazz, the other for everything else. last week, i made a new resolution to play at least one non-jazz record every day. here's how it's going.

Santana's "Welcome" (1973). The cover is minimalist: a cream/off-white background with just the word "Welcome" rendered in elegant gold cursive script running diagonally across the sleeve, no other imagery or text visible on this side. There's some light foxing/age spotting near the top edge, consistent with a vinyl jacket from that era. ALT by Claude
The Beatles, "Magical Mystery Tour" — the psychedelic rainbow cover with the band in animal costumes (walrus, bird, and rabbit-eared costumes) surrounded by colorful stars on a starry blue background, "Beatles" in yellow star-lettering above, and hand-lettered song titles arced across the top (The Fool on the Hill, Flying, Blue Jay Way, Your Mother Should Know, I Am the Walrus). A sticker/label notes it includes a 24-page picture book, and track titles (Hello Goodbye, Strawberry Fields Forever,…
The Specials, "More Specials" — bold black-and-white title type over a color photo of the band lounging in armchairs around a low table cluttered with pint glasses, set against a retro wood-paneled/stained-glass backdrop; one member is baring vampire fangs for the camera. ALT by Claude
B.B. King, "A Heart Full of Blues" — a well-worn, scuffed cover (lots of surface wear/scratches) showing B.B. King in a mustard-yellow suit and bow tie, smiling, with a tracklist along the left side (You're Gonna Miss Me, Got 'Em Bad, Troubles Don't Last, Your Letter, I Can't Explain, The Wrong Road, I Need You Baby, So Many Days, Down Hearted, Strange Things) and a "Custom Records R&B Series" logo — catalog number CM 2040, monaural. Songs build little rooms in time
And housed within the song's design
Is the ghost the host has left behind
To greet and sweep the guest inside
Stoke the fire and sing his lines

Keith Jarrett, "The Köln Concert" (ECM 1064/65) — the classic minimal ECM design: cream background, plain black text with the title, and a black-and-white photo of Jarrett in profile, head bowed and absorbed at the piano, wearing a patterned-cuff shirt. ALT by Claude
Miles Davis, "Miles Ahead" (Columbia CL 1041, this pressing electronically rechanneled for stereo, CS 8633) — orchestra under Gil Evans, "Miles Davis + 19" noted on the cover. Photo shows Miles mid-performance on trumpet, close-up and intense. The jacket has visible wear — soft/worn corners and edges, some scuffing on the cardboard. ALT by Claude
Frank Sinatra, "Put Your Dreams Away" (Columbia CL 1136) — a striking close-up black-and-white/sepia-toned profile shot of Sinatra's face in dramatic side lighting, title in orange/pink text at the top. There's an ownership sticker in the corner reading "I belong to Ronald E. Smith" with an address — a nice bit of provenance from a former owner. Cover shows general age wear (scuffs, some corner softening). ALT by Claude
