One of my VR Lighthouses died last month. These things are gyroscopically spinning 24 hours a day for, what, a decade now? Nearly.
No wonder. Mostly the industry seems to be settling on using head-mounted cameras rather than sweeping infra-red beams and receptors on the head anyway.
It is true that lighthouses give accurate positioning, but means I can't easily take the headset next door, say. Or to a party.
So inside-out, as they call it, is fine for the headset now and mostly okay for the hand-controllers.
But it offers no solution at all for the foot-trackers and hip-tracker that I need for puppetting the characters in the #vr #slimeVR #trackers

Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are technologies that allow users to immerse themselves in digital worlds or enhance their surroundings with computer-generated filters or images, respectively. Both these technologies are now widely used worldwide, whether to experience video games and media content in more engaging ways or improve specific training and assist professionals in their daily tasks.

It started to go downhill shortly after they added non-VR mode and filled it with microtransactions, but I’m sad to see that it’s completely dying… Paintball and Laser Tag were so fun, I loved playing those and Rec Room was one of the first games I played way back when I got my first VR headset. It’d be cool if someone made a VR-only and open source spiritual successor to Rec Room’s great days…

Finished the VR game #behemoth, it has some of the best sword-fighting I've seen in any VR game. Excellent stuff.
Fighting that dragon was insane, holding on for dear life to it's back as it swoops around the sky, tying myself to it so I could fire arrows at it's weak-points. Great stuff.
Would have finished it months ago but didn't really have the space to play VR stuff much while the bedroom was being done.
Really good game for getting hot and sweaty and doing exercise and fighting monsters.
Loved it.

Been doing some augmented-reality fighting. Boxing matches against virtual robots in my studio. Getting breathless and working up a sweat.
