#Windows users survey:
People using Windows11 and Windows10: which one do you prefer, and why?
Did you encounter any major problems with either?
(I know this is not the best question for this audience but I'm interested... feel free to boost!)
#Windows11
It feels like it was only yesterday* when I right-clicked the empty part of a #Windows11 Explorer window and was able to create a new empty text file.
*) and since yesterday was #patchday, I am assuming it actually was yesterday.
Ok, so, I awake, the copying is done, I go to check, #windows11 says hey you haven't updated (in three years), would you like to reschedule? Fuck yeah, I say, gimme 5 weeks. Ok it says, I click to unmount the USA drive. Windows says its busy, I close all apps, still busy AND btw, your system is too old I'm-a gonna update you fucking RIGHT NOW!
I pulled the drive hoping NTFS doesn't trash the drive and I hit the power button. I fucking LOATH Microsoft.
#Windows should become a little bit less shitty as it is:
#Microsoft finally makes a few concrete promises about #Windows11 improvements
#Windows11 will not compress a file with an apostrophe in the name, nor will it search for all files with an apostrophe. I fucking LOATH Windows. Fucking LOATH it.
All I wanted to do was archive files so I could fucking WIPE windows from my life. My sons' computer will then be free to be Debian.
Did I mention how much I LOATH Windows?
Can anyone recommend a new repairable Windows 11 laptop?
Not looking for advice on the OS. 😄
#repair #windows11
Windows 11 finally has a real sudo command (since 24H2) 🚀
Run admin commands directly in the terminal without reopening PowerShell as Administrator. Small change — huge productivity boost.
#Windows11 #DevTools
For #Windows11 fanbois and others trapped it its web version by version, I offer a disclaimer here: I was told by my machine, to my face, that to proceed, I was required to "install Windows98 or better", so I installed, at that time, Slackware Linux, and never looked back. My employers were annoyed, it may be part of where I got the 'arrogant' reputation, but kicking and screaming, I dragged them into the world of free and open source, every last one, even Bell Canada and CBC. Arrogant bastard I am.
I was tempted to type sftp://... Into the location bar, but I'm not THAT stupid. I found an old 2tb usb2 drive direct copy is chugging at a staggering 3M/s. Hopefully done by breakfast.
update: now says 26 hours for 150GB. Did I mention I loathed Windows? This, of course, is a recycling of a victim box of #Windows11.
