If anyone needs to know (you probably all knew this already, right?):
Balena #Etcher didn't work on #Windows11 no matter how hard I shot at the built-in security software it came with.
I followed the step-by-step instructions here and got stuck creating the bootable usb drive:

What the hell!? As usual, I clicked on “Install updates and shut down” in Windows. Then it installed the updates and shut down!

Microsoft hat Windows zu Tode modernisiert: Benutzerkonten-Zwang, Cloud-Abhängigkeit, Werbung im Startmenü, CoPilot überall. Palle sieht in Windows 11 kein Betriebssystem mehr, sondern ein Datensammelportal mit Desktop-Kulisse. Zwischen Nutzerfreiheit und Abo-Modell scheint Microsoft längst gewählt zu haben.
