Reading @…'s book got me back in the lab doing experiments to measure the speed a signal travels through a 100-ft coaxial cable.
In this low-quality setup with a 47-ohm resistor on a breadboard, I got 203.2 x 10^6 m/s, or about 68% of the speed of light.
In a better setup using a proper 50-ohm BNC impedance adapter, I got 229.2 x 10^6 m/s, or ab…

An electronics bench with a coil of coaxial cable and a small breadboard with a 47-ohm resistor. Test leads go to an oscilloscope displaying a pair of square(ish) waves.
Screenshot of a an oscilloscope with yellow and blue traces. Both traces are slightly distorted square waves, with the blue trace shifted to the right. Vertical cursors indicate that the blue trace is 150 ns behind the yellow.

Good morning from my morning walk.
I see snow in the mountains. I've had my bike and hike up there a couple of weeks ago.
#morningwalk #mountains

A mountain range with snow-capped peaks rises majestically in the background under a clear blue sky. In the foreground, trees display their autumn foliage in a beautiful mix of green and golden yellow, framing the alpine panorama. The crisp contrast between the fresh snow on the distant summits and the warm glow of the fall leaves below captures that magical moment when two seasons meet in the mountains — a sunny, invigorating day where autumn colors and wintry peaks share the same breathtaking…

Better! I added a runt filter for the sync pulses on my my pico based rgb-uvc adapter; much better - it's just running on another PIO sm, and so other than an extra wire, it's still component-free.
My BBC Master's sync is really nasty; it looks that way on the main board, I'm not sure if it's the 6845 or the croma chip or what.
(Yellow is Beebs input, blue is unrunted)

A scope screenshot; a yellow trace shows a main center low going pulse in the middle, but a lot of false short pulses all along. A cyan trace on channel 2 is a cleaned up version.

Love’s Best Habit: On Shakespeare’s Sonnet 138
Ask a room of readers which of Shakespeare's sonnets is the greatest and the same three answers come back every time: Sonnet 18, the summer's day; Sonnet 116, the marriage of true minds; Sonnet 73, the yellow leaves....

#UnicycleLife

A large yellow mound of rock and concrete, with a yellow metal "flag" on top (it Suðurnesvarða, "the cairn/beacon of Suðurnes" and surved as a navigational waymarker). Leaning against it is a unicycle on black dirt, with grass in the foreground. The sky is gray and cloudy with small bits of light blue showing through.

we got the window seat at the old town

Late-afternoon sun is pouring through the window, with a starburst flare just above the right edge of the frame and a golden glow washing over the glass. The window itself is a little smudged and spotted, which catches the light and adds to the warm haze.

Outside is the corner of Liberty and Ashley, with a "No Turn on Red" sign and a "First St Detour" sign in orange. Traffic lights hang from a mast arm over the crosswalk, and a bare-branched tree with a few yellow leaves stands in the foregrou…

This explains why the product shots looked so weird on the models — plaids with perfect lines, weird folds, and odd artifacting when zoomed. The cardboard cut-out model was just the uncanny bonus.
Ok, tab closed.
