Claudia Sheinbaum made history when she became Mexico’s first woman president — and the first of Jewish heritage. But on the night of September 15, she made history again. Standing on the Palacio Nacional balcony, clad in white, royal purple and gold, flanked by an all-female military honor guard and wearing a sash created for her by female military officers, she gripped the bell rope and, as required of the ritual, shouted. Normally soft-spoken and measured, the tone was a shift for the climate scientist, who visibly trembled under the weight of the task, but not as big a shift as what she shouted:
“¡Mexicanas! ¡Mexicanos!”
The inclusion of the feminine “Mexicanas,” and naming them FIRST matters.

I know that a bunch of people in my general region of the fediverse already stopped using #Proton because of their CEO's fascist inclinations, and that if you're following me you're probably already sick of generative AI. Even so, I feel like this is worth pointing out if only for harm reduction. Proton has introduced their own LLM model, or perhaps an integration of an existing "open-source" model (the OSI's definition, presumably) which they haven't credited: https://proton.me/blog/lumo-ai …

Macron fears ‘increased’ risk of secret uranium enrichment in Iran now French President Emmanuel Macron has said there is an “increased” risk that Iran will attempt to enrich uranium secretly following US and Israeli strikes on its nuclear sites. “This risk has indeed increased with what has happened recently,” Macron told reporters, calling it “one of the main risks for the region and the international community”. Ein langer, gerader Weg erstreckt sich in die Ferne, flankiert von Feldern auf beiden Seiten. Der Himmel ist teilweise bewölkt, und der Boden zeigt Grasflecken, die über den Bürgersteig wachsen.
Eine hohe Windkraftanlage steht vor dem Hintergrund eines teilweise bewölkten blauen Himmels. Die Turbine verfügt über einen weißen Turm mit einem gelben und roten Streifen. Mehrere kleinere Windkraftanlagen sind in der Ferne, inmitten einer ländlichen Landschaft, sichtbar.
Ein Feldweg führt durch Felder, die auf der einen Seite von Mais und auf der anderen von Feldland begrenzt sind und zu weit entfernten Bergen führen. Windkraftanlagen sind im Hintergrund unter einem teilweise bewölkten Himmel zu sehen.
