(Did you know that in the original stage version of The Sound of Music, the thing that finally breaks Captain von Trapp’s engagement to the baroness isn’t the vague, wishy-washy “noble unstated feelings” scene that’s in the movie (and which never worked in my view, despite the actors giving it their all); it’s that the baroness tries to convince him to go along with the Nazis because there’s nothing he can do, and he decides he can’t marry a woman with no convictions. They cut the song from the film: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Way_t)

Trump’s determination to move fast could slow implementation of his tariff regime.
It also threatens to cost him credibility with businesses he’s counting on to invest in the U.S.
and world leaders whose buy-in he needs to negotiate trade deals.
Still, few expect a different posture from the famously intransigent fool or any second-guessing following the Wednesday ruling from the U.S. Court of International Trade, which briefly halted most of the tariffs

The Soviet way with words 😂
(from en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trofim)

In the article, Pravda correspondent Vitaly Fedorovich described his first impression of the meeting with Lysenko:

"If you judge a person by first impression, then this Lysenko will leave you with a feeling of toothache - God bless him, he is a sad-looking person. And he is stingy with his words, and insignificant in face - all I remember is his gloomy eye, crawling along the ground with such an air as if, at least, he was going to kill someone."

When I worked at an agency, I frequently worked with this one front-end dev. We had the following exchange several times:
Her: Hey Crell, the client wants to do X. How long would that take?
Me: What? X is impossible, there's no logical way to do it.
Me: Well, I suppose we could blah blah, but that would be super complicated.
Me: Hm, but what if I blah blah?
Me: Hang on a sec, let me check something.
<10 min later>
Me: OK, I just did it.

Ich: "Manife."
Sie: "Was?"
Ich: "Steht doch da, a causa della Manife stazione"

I rarely leave my neighborhood these days, so when the opportunity came last weekend to visit a town about 80 km from my home, I took a little detour to visit and take photos of the town’s only national historical marker.
(Those who have been following me long enough know that documenting historical markers in #Wikidata and
