1.5 weeks into a 3 week holiday* and I can feel now just how much I needed it.
And how little I want to go back to work in August.
Let's hope the second half of the holiday fixes that.

Even naar de glasbak gefietst, met de #trike, mijn oude Koga staat ongebruikt in de schuur, om glas te recycleren. Daarna naar een in een Albert Hein verstopte geldmaat om mijn nieuwe bankpas van een gewenste pincode te voorzien. En toen maar even over de fietssnelweg naar fietsknoop 6 en dan weer naar huis. Ik had er flink de pas in, of hoe heet dat bij fietsen. 20,3 kilometer

Five good things instead of three today:
1. Passed mid term project review with flying colours, technical officer proclaimed himself "impressed" (phew).
2. Visited super cool facility at DTU and learned a lot about measuring sunlight. Hopefully the start of some interesting new collaborations
3. Took my 2 wonderful teens out for vegan hotpot dinner in Vesterbro to celebrate end of their exams.
4. Lay out in garden listening to the blackbirds and identified 5 separate bee species within 10 mins
5. Tea and TV on the sofa with aforementioned teens just relaxing.
Perfect day really.

Ruth_Mottram - This is a fascinating and beautifully illustrated analysis, exploring convincingly why birth rates are crashing basically everywhere and while there are certain many factors, the smoking gun is actually a smartphone.
So what to do about it? I think I agree with the conclusions, housing and financial support is one element, equality between sexes in household tasks certainly another, but finally, perhaps our job as parents is to inculcate the habit of socialising with others into our kids, especially when they get to the teenage years.

Judging by number of Danes on this #dfds passenger ferry, it is surely time for a reopening of the Esbjerg ferry to UK to facilitate #FlyingLess? - especially as people seek cooler climates for summer holidays, rather than warm ones

- WiFi is notably slower over the German border
- Cloud storage and working in the cloud is a pain.

I am a huge fan of #TrainTravel and especially #HighSpeedRail, but for some reason Sweden's snabbtåg very often, but not always, makes me a little travel sick. That was a very long 5 hour trip...
Tips to avoid feeling terrible on the way home welcome.

It's summer holiday time and we're back on the train, this time in 5 changes from Copenhagen to Amsterdam via Hamburg - so far (🤞) mostly on time. I'm astonished too. So let's try not to curse it.
I had planned board games, reading books, having a picnic and photo sorting for this trip. But work is unfinished and since leaving at 6am I've managed to finish two reports, clear some emails and now it's time to look at budgets.
Annoying to work on holiday but everyone else is on a screen too and at least this way I can catch up.
