"Swinney said Burnham's stated desire to devolve further powers around the UK was something he welcomed."
A major failing of the Scottish Government has been its failure to devolve more powers to local authorities. There could have been massive reform of local taxation if Holyrood hadn't refused to devolve that power.
Hopefully there will be more subsidiarity arising from Burnham's devolution agenda and engagement with the Scottish Government.

Hey, Twin Cities folks! I'm in an upcoming show that I'm excited about.
It’s visual art, it’s theater, it’s music, it’s ritual, it’s community meditation, it’s one of those •experiences• that defies categorization. It's the brainchild of Summer Hills-Bonczyk, who runs the cermics studio at Macalester, and I'm working with her brother to create music for the show.
I have a good feeling about this. I think it's going to be really cool!

Graph showing movements of voters intentions between 2024 and 2026, I think, given the lack of Plaid Cymru and SNP, only in England. It clearly shows that only ReformUK (and to a much lesser extent Greens) are successfully recruiting voters from the enormous 'did not vote' block, while Greens recruited heavily from Labour and Reform and the LibDems both recruited slightly from the Tories. There's no movement to Labour from anywhere at all. The LibDems and the Greens are not losing votes to anyw…

Brooklyn’s Democratic Party could be in for a major shakeup following last month’s primary election, when reform-oriented candidates flipped eight of nine contested district leader races.

The groups who backed those candidates — New Kings Democrats and Brooklyn Can’t Wait — say they now have enough votes to oust party chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn and take over the county machine they have long railed against.

Understanding Ephesians 6:5
Key Instruction
The verse from Ephesians 6:5 emphasizes the following points regarding the relationship between slaves and their earthly masters:
• Obedience: Slaves are instructed to obey their masters.
• Respect and Fear: This obedience should be accompanied by respect and a sense of reverence.
• Sincerity of Heart: Service should be genuine, not merely for show or to gain favor.
Spiritual Context
• Serving Christ: The verse draws a parallel between serving earthly…
Moral Responsibility: The instruction implies that even in difficult circumstances, the manner of service should be honorable and sincere.
Broader Implications
Historical Context: The concept of slavery in biblical times differed significantly from modern understandings. Slaves often had various rights and roles within households.
Modern Application: While the specific context of slavery has changed, the principles of respect, sincerity, and service can apply to various authority relationships …

In his second term, Donald Trump has largely used his clemency power to benefit allies, donors and culture-war figures — including Jan. 6 defendants.

Few of Trump’s pardons have gone to people who met the Justice Department’s criteria and properly petitioned the Office of the Pardon Attorney.

Trump could have reformed clemency by moving it out of the Justice Department and having an independent panel in charge of it.
Instead, experts say he has exploited it.…

If you set limits for a scale (e.g. x-axis) in ggplot, how would you like data outside of that range be handled? There is the oob parameter for that and a set of functions to use with it: scales.r-lib.org/reference/oob

What *should* a floppy drives read data look like (5.25" single density, BBC DFS) ?
Both my Model B and a greaseweazel are failing to read the two disks I've tried at all at the moment; does this stream (off pin 34 on the interface) look sane? I don't currently have a known-good one to reference.

This week, Reform UK leader Nigel Forage set out his plans

following a scandal over undeclared gifts, including £5m from the cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne,
which is being investigated by the parliamentary standards commissioner.
His intention, he has said, is to be judged by his constituents rather than “the establishment”,
