As usual we watched the "Stoertebekker" stage play at Ralswiek on Rügen Island. The stage setups and wardrobes were as awesome as always. They really try to improve on that every year and come up with clever mechanisms to transform the building for the various acts of the play. The script this year left room for desire ;) Nevertheless a happing worth attending

We report real-time detection of longitudinal and transverse transport responses across distinct frequency bands in a ferromagnetic filling factor $ν$ = 1 integer quantum Hall state. By tuning $ν$, we simultaneously access the evolution of the screening environment and bulk excitation structure. The resulting asymmetric breakdown, for $ν>1$ and $ν<1$, reveals that interaction effects, rather than a single-particle band picture, dominate the transport instability. I watched "Thief" (1981), directed by Michael Mann. Sort of a heist movie, sort of a mob movie, but aspires to be a Cassavetes movie. An interesting mix, and really well shot. Ryan Coogler said this was the film that made "wet-downs" a thing, and judging by all of the wet streets & sidewalks, I believe it.
Features Willie Nelson in a minor role. Also features a soundtrack by Tangerine Dream.

No Sign of a Magnetar Remnant Following the Kilonova-Producing Long GRB 211211A $\sim 1.7~$Years Later
In addition to a $γ$-ray burst (GRB), the merger of two neutron stars may produce a temporarily or indefinitely stable neutron star remnant with a strong magnetic field (a "magnetar"). As this magnetar remnant spins down, it can deposit its rotational energy into the surrounding kilonova ejecta, producing synchrotron emission that peaks in the radio bands $\sim$months-years after the merger ("boosted kilonova").
