Critics of DEI often argue, that these programs promote hires purely on ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation while the qualification gets neglected.
If this was truely the case, then I would agree with them. These distinctive features should not play a role. However, the reality was (and apparently still is), that these factors do play a role and DEI measurements are an instrument to battle these, not to intensify them. On the 10th of December 2024 at about 4pm in the afternoon I had a sudden shivering attack. The room wasn't cold, but I was, so I took to bed and shivered on the electric blanket until I napped for a few hours.
Woke up groggy, and never got better. Feeling light headed and occasionally dizzy and half stoned all the time. Can't handle booze or dope at all any more. Doing the job feels like trying to program drunk, concentration shot and short term memory failing.
Various doctors have ordered batteries of tests and put me on drugs to reduce my blood pressure but nothing that's really helped.
They did an MRI last week. Apparently everything looks normal which is good I guess, but still leaves symptoms unexplained.
There are worse fates than feeling half drunk all the time I suppose.
Given no visible brain damage, about the best suggestion anyone has is to stay off booze and drugs (which is easy, since I can't handle them any more) and get back to meditation. If it's damage so small the MRI can't pick it up it'll get better slowly probably. 🤷
Anyway, they gave me the MRI data upon request, so I spent most of yesterday importing it into Blender and making some visualization.

My surface reading is this is a celebration of the common man, perhaps soldiers, over the more famous generals and presidents. But this commentary encourages me to dig deeper.
First, to highlight the gay text...

Very homoromantic language! Male lovers who stay together through their whole lives, affectionate.
The last fillip here is Whitman's own stance: "pensive... filled with the bitterest envy". Whitman admires these lovers and envies them. That's a striking feeling to disclose!

- Essential system is not working, opened support ticket.
- Two hours later still no change.
- Called service desk: "Yes we assigned the ticket to the 2nd level"
- Checked ticket queue: "Priority 4: Low"
- Called service desk "Tell the 2nd level guys if they don't make this work before lunch we're coming over and confiscate every Switch 2 we find!"
