Content warning: Loneliness diagram

The Venn Diagram of Perceived Loneliness...
Just came across this again in my archives — it so brutally & succinctly expresses the feeling our cultures & social connections seem to have turned into... Even though we should know that it isn't like that at all, two decades of exploitative commercialized social media (not the only reason; pandemic, tech, politics being others...) have conditioned & segmented people to believe it, experience it to varying degrees, and then …

A complex Venn diagram of 8 overlapping sets (here representing interests, only labeled 1-8), with almost all individual overlaps labeled with "Others". Only the central overlap and the edge areas without overlap are labeled "Me", expressing the idea that there're no commonalities with others...

The United States is on the cusp of becoming a pariah state,
ruled by a spoiled man-child who is increasingly and openly mocked for his obvious failings.
It only takes one person to say the emperor has no clothes to give others the courage to act.

I'm raising money for Sage Haven Society in Port Alberni
walk.w-ith.me/chris
I've raised my bar this year to $2000 in honour of Ellen Frood, their former and amazing executive director who has done so much for our community and passed away suddenly last year.
Only have $700 to go to my goal!
Sage Haven has provided a women's shelter for decades and now provides more services for all fleeing gender-based violence.
Mastodon has been so amazing. Any amount helps.
Thanks.❤️

Alright, time for the custom cart/Kefka revenge tour! I'm feeling like crap, but I figured playing a bit o' vidya games would help out. Time for some Final Fantasy 6 in the only way I know how to play it: on an old CRT TV with more than a bit of profanity.

Kimi Onoda, Japan's new Minister of State for Economic Security, is a 43 year old half-Irish ex-game industry PR femcel with an extensive history of defending her exclusive attraction to anime boys on twitter

I don't think it's twisted at all.

I'm a woman who likes men, and I'm not interested in 3D men.

That's all.
I apologize for rambling on. I just couldn't stay silent... I really wish I had more allies within the party...

From here on, this is completely my personal opinion, but fundamentally, people who truly love 2D wouldn't touch 3D at all. I myself have absolutely no interest in 3D and consider it out of bounds. Maybe that kind of feeling is something only those involved can understand.
"Hurry up and get married," "Have kids" I've been told this by voters since my 20s, but even at 40, I still sigh every time these words are thrown at me. At what age will I finally be free of this?

In the 3D world, I'm married to my country, and besides, I've said my private life is 2D-exclusive, haven't I!! I'll say it over and over: I'm 2D-exclusive!!
I've been saying this for a while now, but I don't consider 3D (real-life) people as romantic prospects. I'm dead serious, not joking. For me, the very act of someone seeing the "possibility of marriage" in me is inherently uncomfortable (quoted from a reply)-it's the same as if you were to suggest to a gay person that they marry someone of the opposite sex... If you can understand it that way, that would help. This isn't about sexual harassment or anything like that; it's a deep-seated discomf…

"The crew was hungry, the crew was angry, and we tried to survive only day-by-day."
"Back in 2016, 20 ships were abandoned around the world, according to the ITF. In 2025 the number had ballooned to 410, with 6,223 merchant seamen falling victim. Both of those figures for last year were up by almost a third on 2024."

In early February there were more than 750 families,
nearly half of them including children,
as well as some 370 single adult women
being held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in South Texas.
It is just one of many immigration centers across the country,
but the only one holding families.
Since the start of the Trump administration, the number of children in Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention has skyrocketed,
-- increasing sixf…

Finally an #ArtemisII update on nasa.gov/blogs/missions/2026/0 - "technicians have replaced two seals in an area where operators saw higher than allowable hydrogen gas concentrations during the test. Engineers are analyzing the removed seals and developing plans to address all issues ahead of the next rehearsal." No date for that new wet dress rehearsal has been set, and a launch date will be determined only after it is over.

The thing that Renee Good now knows, that Tortuguita knows, that Heather Heyer knows, that I only know because I glimpsed for a second, is that when you die fighting oppression you live forever in that memory of resistance. When we carve their names into a monument, along with all the other names of the murdered and disappeared, that will stand, perhaps, across from the statue of Willem in the park where the Northwest Detention Center once stood, they will always be reminders of what it looks like to sacrifice everything in order to be on the right side of history.
The names of those who resist live as ghosts, summoned by name to haunt future oppressors, summoned by name to awaken our own conscience to the call. Martyrs, whispered like the White Rose or yelled as a threat like John Brown, cannot die so long as any of us with a bit of spine carries even an ounce of humanity.
It is possible to die knowing you did the right thing, and I have felt it. There is an acceptance that is impossible to imagine without being there, without feeling it for yourself. You have nothing to fear in resisting, even if it ends you. But you will never forget the shame of doing nothing if you fail to.
