Caught a bug over the holidays so I’m mostly resting, feeling sorry for myself, and taking the time to at least carry out some mindless housekeeping tasks (updating dependencies, etc.) on some of my Node modules.
Released updates to the following packages yesterday:

Cairn ist endlich da. Ein feines Indie-Game, dass das Kletter-Feeling wirklich einigermaßen realistisch rüberbringt (unbedingt mit Controller spielen!).
Von der Comic-ähnlichen Naturoptik bin ich sowieso immer ein großer Fan - das erinnert mich tatsächlich etwas an Firewatch. Bei schöner Aussicht einen Berg hochzuklettern macht nämlich auch am PC Spaß - vor allem jetzt im Winter.

This was written by an old friend and I found it pretty packed with good info. It’s also an example of using NotebookLM for research and content development. I found this inspiring enough to give it a try. I’ve found that it is a “Centaur" enabling tech that helps one to create on their own the overall content and leaving details to the NotebookLM tooling.

SLOs Can’t Catch a Black Swan: A Classification Framework for Thinking About Incidents -Geoff White
"Your SLOs can be green, and your systems can still be falling over. That doesn’t mean SLOs are broken. It means they were never designed to describe every class of risk we encounter in complex systems.
I’ve released version 1.0 of SLOs Can’t Catch a Black Swan as an open, living framework hosted on GitHub.
This is not a book you read once, and it’s not something you consult in the middle of an outage. It’s a way to think more clearly about incidents—across the incident lifecycle.”

"On July 23rd, 1984, the song was recorded at the Flying Cloud Drive Warehouse in Eden Prairie with the entire band. The song was played and recorded live. After 21 minutes the tape was full and the band were still playing."
It was never released before, with a reason, 21 minutes is a bit long 😆, still interesting for any Prince fan. And the song has an amazing groove...

Angor is a crowdfunding protocol for nostr and bitcoin.
Dan here is building it. Kickstarter without middle men.
Accountability is key. What stops the fund raiser just fleeing with the coin?
Funds are programmed to be released in stages, time locked in a multisig.
So if they aren't meeting milestones, investors can withdraw. If the founders are buying lambos instead of building, just cash out at that point.
Permissionless and decentralised, no servers except nostr relays and bitcoin nodes. No third party's claiming 30 percent fees. The system is a nostr client scanning relays for investment object types. Allowing investment into the funding contracts and subscription to updates.

I'm not ok. The world seems not ok. But community is important and there is still value in doing things just because. Blinky lights are fun, so last weekend I helped wire some controller boxes for an upcoming Burning Man project (maybe unscruz too?)
(and I've just realized that I don't know the project's name or if it has one...)

A table covered in wires and tools. There a 3 sets of identically laid out LED Falcon F16v4 controller boards mounted on panels and flanked by buck converters. One of the panels is in a weatherproof case.

I just realized that the International Organization for Standardization ISO uses a picture from Switzerland to illustrate their popular standards page about ISO8601.
But do you know where it was taken?
