I noticed late last night, by way of discovering pooling water under the sink, that the garbage disposal had gone belly up.
And so today’s task is to replace it, which I don’t really relish doing, but:
"…so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." -Gandalf the Grey
And so, I’m off to the hardware store, having accepted the conditions are what they are and deciding ho…

A silent scenery in four acts...
(Selenium-toned[1] 4x6 salt print (still in final wash) plus previous work-in-progress stages... see alt text for details)
The picture/motif itself is one of my personal favorites and was taken 4 years ago in the Alpstein massif, when clouds were spontaneously forming around us, creating a wonderful light/scene/drama and a dear memory... now also as print which likely will/can outlast myself
[1] The tones will become more neutral once dry...…

Photo of a photo: A sepia tinted monochromatic salt print in a photo tray water bath during the final stage of the development process. The photo emulsion was hand painted on the paper with a brush and has some fuzzy edges in the bottom half (likely from removing the masking tape a little too early)

The subject photo shows a romantic multi-layered mountain scene with towering rock faces quickly being engulfed by clouds forming around them, further down smooth grassy meadows and groups of swi…
Darkroom view of the same photo in another tray during development. The red light makes the contrast of the image appear more strong...
Another darkroom view of the same photo, taken just a few moments before the previous image. Here showing the undeveloped print as it looks just after UV exposure. Only the darkest parts of the image are somewhat recognizable already.
Top-down desk view of the negative laid atop the already masked off (but otherwise unprepared) paper. Some earlier exposure time test strips and images are scattered around...

Chicago is getting a place for sickos
#fedifc

QUESTIONS &
ANSWERS
What is Soccer House?
Soccer House is a soccer-only clubhouse designed
exclusively for soccer fans in Chicago's West Town
neighborhood.
It will be where you'll want to be to watch early-morning
kickoffs, derby days, cup finals, and that midweek
Conference League match in Portugal you absolutely need to
see with other sickos.

What games will you show?
As many as we possibly can! We'll obviously show the
biggest and best matchups from across the world each
weekend. Beyond that, our screens are soccer-only so the
Copa Libertadores never has to compete with the Cubs.
We'll also feature our local Fire and Stars prominently.
With multiple rooms, screens, and audio zones, different
games can run at the same time so we can pack the house
with as much soccer as possible.

Are you really only showing
soccer?
Yes.
Soccer House is a soccer-exclusive venue. It will be only
soccer (but we're happy for anyone to call it football). If
there isn't a game on, we'll have something else soccer-
related.
There will be no exceptions and no just put the basketball
game on for a second." This ain't the place where the TVs
switch to whatever sport is trending that night.

I am wrong! The New Colgate Powerhouse is independent, owned and run by the Yuba Water Agency. So the pipe failure is not PG&E's responsibility. PG&E's grid didn't respond very well but maybe there's water damage in the area that complicated things.

I give it an itinerary and it gives me detailed and personalized suggestions like "You have this reserved, but note it's 1.5km of walking over steep, uneven surfaces. As an alternative it's easy just to go into town and look around."
I love being able to throw an enormous amount of data at the LLM and have it make sense of it. In this case it doesn't matter if the answers are not 100% correct as long as they are close and the suggestions are verifiable.

There was this mention in the Budgie 10.10 release announcement of ending an era and working together in a very positive way with the KDE team.
What most people, including yours truly, missed was the mention of QT6 as the new development platform of choice for Budgie 11! Part of Frameworks is already in 10.10, and a totally new architecture will be build for Wayland, QT and Budgie. Exciting times!

Been using updown.io to monitor my webserver for about a year and a half now. Works flawlessly, no hassles. Finally ran out of free tokens so I paid 5€ for another three years. Feels like a good trade!

05::55 Saigon. The days just before Tet (our Lunar New Year) are my favorite ones. Streets empty out, everyone is happy to celebrate. On to the coffee ☕

Did a reverse install of Gentoo today. Installed dwm alongside KDE, made sure all was running well. Then deinstalled all KDE parts, did a deep clean and switched profile to just desktop (from desktop-plasma). Smooth, and keeping all settings, applications and tweaks as they were. Easily beats a 4 hour reinstall 😅

The hidden gem. Another one.
Did you know Alpine Linux has a vibrant community, delivering the latest desktop environments?
KDE Plasma 6.5.4, of course. But also Gnome 49.2.2? And, since y'day afternoon already, Cosmic 1.0?
That's the one I'm gonna go for.
Unexpected, but really amazing. Don't tell too many people 😂
