The recent rise in youth suicide highlights the urgent need to understand how online experiences contribute to this public health issue. My fair city of Roanoke attained “Bee City USA” status in 2022, which aims to “promote healthy, sustainable habitats for bees and other pollinators, responsible for the reproduction of nearly 90% of the world’s flowering plant species and one in every three bites of food we eat.”
Last night, a couple of garden clubs teamed up with the city to screen a new PBS Nature documentary, “My Garden of a Thousand Bees”.

This week, in 2022, gold miners in the Yukon discovered a near complete, mummified baby woolly mammoth. The Yukon has a world-renowned fossil record of ice age animals, but mummified remains with skin and hair are rarely unearthed. Geologists, with the Yukon Geological Survey and the University of Calgary, traveled 6 hours to the site and retrieved the remains less than an hour before a storm struck.

We examine the publication rates of 400 research-focused members in the ASTRO3D Centre of Excellence by gender, project, and year from January 2018 to January 2024 (six years). Of the 443 refereed publications led by ASTRO3D members, women were first-author on 38% which is nearly double that of the astronomy field in the same period (~20%).
