New laptop: Framework 13. The last one?
Warnings: This post is my thoughts after one day of use of a new laptop I’ve been waiting for 1.5 year, so I’m still under endorphins. I’ve spent $1,200 in an under powered machine, so I’m biased. I will skip all the details that make Framework’s laptops unique. This has already been covered by others. With that out of the way, I would like to share my first impressions on the Framework 13 and how it compares to all I read and to my old Dell XPS13.

It's really fucked up how when I write posts on work laptop (MacBook/Macos) vs. my own machine (Thinkpad/Linux) I end up with some many extra typos.
I don't think it's the MacBook keyboard (though it is a bit shit) it really is Macos' autocorrect.

Im having a mental battle of cheap vs lazy. I have an old Thinkpad laptop i use for teaching. (T40?) Circa 2015ish. But it works just fine, no issues with Fedora, and giving Garuda a try for now on it. Its a good laptop. Problem is that its heavy. And I have to carry a work laptop (MS Surface, win11) as well. And two laptops in the bag is a bit of weight. So I am debating getting a refurb X1 Carbon. But the cheap part of me is going "NOOOO". Ugh, internal conflicts.

A short history of my mom's work laptops:
1. VGA HDMI.
2. HDMI DP. I had to buy her a DP cable.
3. DP VGA. I had to go on a quest to beat the spiderwebs and find the old VGA cable. It turned out it doesn't work…
That is, the image is fuzzy. Now I'm wondering if the cable's damaged, or just VGA is too old for the modern world.
