Today, nearly two centuries after his death, that principle still obtains -- and in some ways more rigidly than ever.
But his work remains,

Staged publishing for npm! Finally 🙏
I'm only just starting to test it now, but in theory at least this trusted publishing could very significantly tighten up the security posture for lots of packages. Would be fantastic to see the current wave of attacks slow down a bit.

What is the Source?
To the painter Remedios Varo, and possibly to Thomas Cole (founder of the Hudson River school), the Source was an overflowing chalice set in a mysterious landscape.
The Source is magical and inexhaustible (like a fairy-tale soup pot), hidden and yet waiting to be found, ready to be discovered not once but endlessly.

The people have moved on.
Americans are not just fed up with pandering to Israel by politicians beholden to funding from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
The people have moved on from this notion that things need to move slowly or worse yet, nothing can be done at all.
The current fear-mongering about democratic socialists overshadows the fact it started in the early 1980s,
a time when Americans struggled to make ends meet.
And the current scare f…

I always wanted a remote for PowerPoint that would allow me to use the phone as the laser pointer. So, I've made one! (macOS only, sorry)

Here's somebody's blog post about grackles' fondness for dropping feces in water, written from the perspective of an annoyed koi-pond owner. The author gives the usual explanation that behavior reduces nest predation (presumably because fecal smell is attractant). I couldn't find support for this hypothesis in the primary literature, however. Nor could I find support for the idea that a clean nest reduces parasites such as flesh-eating flies. But I'm not a birdologist so I could have missed the definitive paper. pondtrademag.com/blackbird-gif

West Oakland,
a California neighborhood known for its rich history of Black activism
from the Pullman Porters’ union to the Black Panthers,
might not seem like the site of the country’s next great coal project.
But that’s exactly what the Trump administration is pushing for
– with the injection of $75m to build a sprawling coal export terminal in the nearby port of Oakland.
Last week, Donald Trump announced he was using wartime powers to hand $700m to coal…
