RE: dair-community.social/@timnitG
Please note that this delightful bit of schadenfreude is couched in an article that’s actually AI advertising in disguise:
“This happened because Claude is so good at ‘reasoning across large codebases!’ It’s a sign of a coming boom! It’s not because employees are being pressured to maximize token use or because ‘agents’ go completely off the rails, oh no, couldn’t be •that•!”

For nearly a decade, the Pentagon was warned
—by its own contractors, analysts, and intelligence agencies
—that anyone with a credit card could buy a map of where American troops sleep, work, and store nuclear weapons.
Now the bill has come due in a war zone.
A newly disclosed letter shows the warnings went unheeded:
US Central Command now confirms it has received “multiple threat reports concerning adversary exploitation of commercial location data to target or su…

Next edition of our quarterly free village magazine is up on the blocks. Editorial meeting tonight and then I get started populating the layout. Paid adverts already placed–they pay for the printing–the rest is all volunteer work including delivery to 4k homes.
Have been building this with #affinity since 2023 (Quark before that). Good to give back to the community.

Page Layout in Affinity showing a magazine layout of 48 pages with some elements off to the sides. Pale blue lines around pages and elements.

Because I am on Eurosky's PDS, I was able to log in via blacksky.community and was able to post. No profile/header banner imagesthough.
Despite this, #ATProto really falls apart even if the main #BlueSky stuff goes down.

The opening salvo of a war is not "a fast-moving situation." It is the deployment of a pre-assembled target list under zero pressure to outpace an adversary. #minabstrike

The “target coding” provided by the Defense Intelligence Agency, the military intelligence agency that helps develops targets, labeled the school building as a military target when it was passed to Central Command, the military headquarters overseeing the war, according to people briefed on the preliminary findings of the investigation.

Investigators do not yet fully understand how the outdated data was sent to Central Command or whether the Defense Intelligence Agency had updated information.…

Trump’s constant
self-aggrandisement,
his grudges against political adversaries,
the fury at being challenged by the press,
the revenge he promises to wreak on the Iranian regime.
All are ways to erase and avoid what is a permanent terror of humiliation and obsolescence.
“Think of Benito Mussolini,”
wrote the journalist Barbara Grizzuti Harrison in the LA Times,
“jackbooted,
lantern-jawed,
squeakily bombastic,
posturing from…

It's been a grind, but I'm finally making progress on the SaaS frontend to this whole project. My idea is it can be a portal where game communities can publish their community to advertise for new members. This will tie into the existing self-hosted Warlock framework for Linux servers and will serve as a complementary service for those groups who want to advertise, (completely optional; the self-hosted project isn't changing).
Currently the idea will be to enable this service to user…

Screenshot of a fragment of a webpage showing Warlock.Nexus and a community card illustrating the community country, name, tagline, several games offered by that community, and quick links. It's a functional proof of concept of a small portion of the much larger project.

"The part that shocked us: The fix already exists in Anthropic’s own codebase. Their newer tree-sitter parser checks deny rules correctly regardless of command length. It’s written. It’s tested. It sits in the same repository. It was never applied to the code path that ships to customers. The secure version was built — it just wasn’t deployed." 🤪
