#IT sent out instructions to all employees to use #Powershell and a dozen commands to run in it to get computer information, which we were to email back to IT:
`$sys = Get-CimInstance Win32_ComputerSystem`
`$sys.Name`
etc.
A dev (I assume) pointed out that Active Directory does this for breakfas…

"'We do respect and appreciate the temporary activation but it’s time to start moving forward on the original purpose for this site,' Mahmood said, referring to affordable housing."
Ok good start, now do Parcel K in Hayes Valley. Or is this Mahmood's stance only in poor parts of his district?

While I'm wittering on about #books, these are two of my to-read piles. One is in a bookcase as I knew I'd be a while getting round to them. I bought those for 50p a pop at a Christmas bazaar. They often have some mid-century gems but not this time. The other is by the bed, the Active Pile. The top three are proofs sent to a bookshop in town which offers them to

A pile of books, top to bottom House of Splinters by Laura Purcell (currently reading and very good), Moonlight Express by Monisha Rajesh, As many Souls as Stars by Natasha Siegel, Duel Duet, Selected stories by Graham Greene and Talk of the Devil, writings by Ian Fleming
A pile of books with a Christmassy tin on top that my intarsia kit lives in. Top to bottom Dark Fire by CJ Sansom, Murder Most Unladylike by Robin Stevens and A Hat Full of Sky by Terry Pratchett.

The latest piece of research by the Swiss Seismological Service, published summer 2025, links swarms of small tremors beneath Mont Blanc in the European Alps to rapid thawing of ice and snow during a heatwave in 2015.
Percolating downwards, the extra water eventually found its way into a major fault zone that slices through the 12km-long (7-mile) Mont Blanc Road Tunnel, lubricating it and causing it to shift sufficiently to trigger a burst of low-level seismic activity.

The occurrence of small tremors has since remained elevated, substantially hiking the risk of bigger quakes in the future.

These are the photos for my 2026 calendar. Got the proofs today. Should have the hard copies in 2 weeks. Always agonizing to pick 13 of my photos for the next one. The last few years I’ve had to use older ones too. I don’t get out to shoot as much anymore. I’m hoping that will improve. I’ve volunteered to be a photographer for the city park dept. I’ll take pics of people engaged in the parks and activities, and whatever else I see.

Composite of 12 photos I’ve selected for my 2026 calendar. In order the pictures are:
January - a house finch in a tree
February - a coyote standing looking at the photographer (me)
March - sunrise over mountains
April - 3 days-old goslings in weeds
May - a catbird in a tree
June - scenic view of mountains, clouds, rain, and sunlight
July - closeup of a Mariposa Lily
August - closeup of a prickly poppy
September - head and shoulders of an elk cow
October - a blue heron taking flight
November - …
