So, I guess no one has any idea how to fix Wayland vs. Chromium?

Oh goody, a LinkedIn connection request with a message!
Let’s break this down:

Brash: Chromium Browser DoS Attack via document.title Exploitation
Brash is a critical vulnerability in Blink, the rendering engine that powers Google's Chromium-based browsers. It allows any Chromium browser to collapse in 15-60 seconds by exploiting an architectural flaw in how certain DOM operations are managed.

A critical, currently unpatched bug in Chromium's Blink rendering engine can be abused to crash many Chromium-based browsers within seconds, causing a denial-of-service condition – and, in some tests, freezing the host system.

Well, it now came to this: I have to install an add-on in #LibreWolf (#Firefox fork) as well on my almost naked #Chromium in order to get reliable session resume after browser restart:
My 'complaining' about KDE has led to an extra effort by the FreeBSD community to pull me in 🤣 Ungoogled Chromium is back in ports with the latest version 👍🏻

Well, Apple, making Safari 26.0.1 run like a dog’s breakfast on macOS Sequoia while also *not* providing a download for Safari 18.6¹ is definitely a choice.²
No way I’m breaking nearly half the apps I rely on daily by upgrading to Tahoe just to fix Safari so I guess I’ll be making Chromium my default (I use Orion a lot, especially since I pay for Kagi, but it has its issues like 1Password not working, etc.) And don’t get me started on Firefox³.
So, Apple, how about a little less …

There are frameworks like {golem} and {rhino} to make shiny development more robust, but I like the concept of {shinytest2} in providing a testing framework for pure shiny. https://rstudio.github.io/shinytest2/index.html
I guess it's a good first step https://toot.cafe/@tomayac/115309411832537447
But I've also been waiting for *years* (`prefers-color-scheme` was introduced in 2019), for:
- light/dark-mode `theme_color`
- light/dark-mode `background_color`
- light-dark-mode `ic…
I'm running into a really annoying render bug with the latest Kubuntu, which now uses Wayland. Anyone else seen this issue, and know how to fix it?

the team behind material for mkdocs have built a new static site generator
i open their webpage and it lags my entire pc with, i think, this background animation of "moving lines". taking a screenshot took several seconds and chromium stopped rendering the ui at one point
any idiot can make an efficient static site. it takes pure brilliance to make it inefficient (why does it need 1 GB of GPU memory?!)

Hello Fedi tech support desk, I wonder if you can help.
Next week I will need to join a Teams meeting from my Linux laptop.
How well does this work using the Teams web interface? Will I need to run Chrome or will Firefox or (at worst) Chromium do the job?
And do I need to sign in to Microsoft dot com first, or can I just rock up with the Teams call details and enter a name and things will just work?

In all (rightful) excitement over Helium, we forget how good Ungoogled Chromium actually is.

Another one of those days on which I spend an hour trying to get screen recording to work in OBS, and it just won't.
Screen sharing in Chromium just works...
So no live streams for the time being, sorry.
Weekly news round-up from Saigon:
Nix-shell (for me, as a desktop user) is a powerful tool to, temporarily, enable software I wouldn't otherwise use. And that someone took the trouble to package filen-desktop as a nix package is amazing.
The Intel wifi drivers work ootb on FreeBSD 14.3, which makes it possible for me to install Ungoogled Chromium later on (as a pkg it is only available on stable releases) I got an error after compiling for 4 hrs on an i7 with 16gb, so there'…
