Great call to action by Dariusz Jemielniak in Nature: academics should contribute to Wikipedia, and such work should be recognized.

I'm trying out a new health app to try to replace Fitbit. The Fitbit app doesn't really do anything for me and costs $100 per year. I can get my smart scale and my blood pressure cuff to pipe data into the new app. I also bought a smart ring to pump data into it. I like this, so far.

For #mountainmonday AND #monochromeMonday , here's the start (well and end) of my hike the weekend before last.
Usually I'm not a fan of photographing roads, but this one made a nice line over the saddle and into the fog so I just gave it a try.
And heck was it c…

A winding road cuts through a winter wonderland, shrouded in soft, misty fog that lends the scene an air of quiet mystery. Snow blankets the ground and clings delicately to the bare branches of towering trees, their silhouettes fading into the ethereal haze. The asphalt glistens with a thin layer of frost, curving gently around a rocky embankment on the right, where patches of earth peek through the white. The atmosphere is hushed and serene, as if time itself has slowed in this secluded forest…

Am building a shed which should fit my kayaks through the door at an angle.
So been trying, mainly for lols, to ask various AI if the stuff will fit and feeding them architect plans and dimensions of the kayak
My god it’s comical how bad it’s going.
Printed a model of the shed and kayak out instead.

Just finished "Class Act" by Jerry Craft. An excellent follow-up to "New Kid", and it deepens the exploration of racism in "New Kid" in a lot of different directions. I think the aspect I liked most was the handling of class/race dynamics but also the different explorations of fitting back into neighborhood communities.
