Content warning: NZPol RMA Federated Farmers

These Federated Farmer folks need to be neutralised as a political force - they're pushing this 'backbone of the economy' narrative. In fact, the 'murdering the country' narrative is more appropriate. The only thing most of them are doing is receiving profits in the form of future subsidies from the rest of society because they're externalising their costs while privatising their profits. They're the opposite of a backbone.

Series A, Episode 10 - Breakdown
CALLY: So?
BLAKE: So on the flight deck he tried to kill ME. The limiter didn't even slow him down.
CALLY: Well, among my people such things are considered barbarous.

Claude 3.7 describes the image as: "The image shows a person with curly dark hair wearing what appears to be a dark costume with distinctive panels or stripes. The styling and production quality suggests this is from a classic science fiction television production, likely from the late 1970s or early 1980s based on the visual aesthetic.

The setting appears to be some kind of interior space, possibly a spacecraft or futuristic facility, with a simple, somewhat utilitarian background typical of …

The idea is to provide a safe haven and a fertile ground for the next generation of scientists to work in peace and freedom to solve the most significant challenges of our time; but the geopolitical argument will prevail. As Jorge Luis Borges said in his short story “Nathaniel Hawthorne” from his book “Other Inquisitions” (1952):
“The past is indestructible; sooner or later all things return, and one of the things that return is the project to abolish the past.”

At its core, #CCSignals is an attempt by Creative Commons, a Silicon Valley-based organisation, to legitimise the AI grifts of its donors – Google, Microsoft, and Meta (Zuckerberg).
Creative Commons was always a thinly-veiled attempt at enabling Big Tech data farmers to get more data (that’s why the whole “open data” realm is so well funded/popular – open as in “open for business” not fre…

Found the specs sheet.
The front camera and ultrawide camera seem to be considerably worse.
The normal wide camera seems to be better, except it lost the electronic stabilisation (not sure how important that is tbh).
The battery is better, but it needs a screwdriver to be changed so no more switch during the day if you don’t have a screwdriver always on you. This comes with no added water resistance, which makes me wonder why they did this.
The display seems to be worse? The resolution is smaller which makes sense since the size is smaller, but also it seems to have less PPI than the Fairphone 5. The refresh rate is higher tho.
It has worse USB-C connectivity as well, the Fairphone 6 has just USB 2.0 (!!!!) compared to 3.0 on the Fairphone 5.
They also got rid of the sky blue color (which was the prettiest imo) and of the transparent option.
I don’t really understand Qualcomm processors, but at least the new GPU seems to have a better benchmark score?

I was VERY pleasantly surprised by how well my #PyConUS talk resonated! Over the past ~1.5 years I bounced the idea off people of all stripes & got very mixed responses. That helped me to shape the content but also tempered my expectations and I begged everyone who would listen to come to my talk out of fear to speak to an empty room.
I ended up speaking to an standing room only and fo…

His love of rail started when he was young, through a Japanese cartoon about a crime-fighting train.

Just got a small space heater and damn it’s so much more comfortable here now :blobcatafternoon:
As a @… fan I’d prefer if my AC/heat pump supported heating mode, but welp it was already installed when I moved here so an electric heater will do it for the 2 days a year it’s actually cold enough for that to be useful here. Getting all that heat from the bedroom to the living room would be a problem anyway.
And I didn’t even need to make a fire hazard in order to use it since a 20A outlet was already around due to the coffee thingy, yay!
It’s been on for just around 40mins and it’s already sooo much better in here (the temp sensor is not on the side the heater is pointing to (the sofa) so it’ll take a while for it to reflect the change specially since this is a big room (kitchen dinner living), but just pointing the heater to where I’m at is enough to make it a comfortable temperature (and probably even way too hot in a bit)).
I’ve been wanting this for a while, but it never felt worth it bc we don’t really have many cold days here. Tho this year we got some more I think and today was specially cold (9~11°C) so I decided to just do it. Extra points bc it was available on fucking iFood of all places so it arrived less than an hour after I ordered it lmao.

Series A, Episode 02 - Space Fall
BLAKE: Oh yes. He's also made it clear that summary execution's one of our options. We chose the other.
LEYLAN: Well if you're successful, I promise that I'll get your sentences quashed.
AVON: And if we're not?

Claude Sonnet 4.0 describes the image as: "This appears to be a tense confrontation scene set in what looks like a spacecraft corridor or control room. The setting has the characteristic sterile, metallic interior design typical of space-based science fiction productions of the era. Several characters are wearing what appear to be communication devices or restraints with metallic chest pieces and coiled cables. The scene suggests a dramatic moment where characters are likely being held captive …
