Transfer-matrix approach to the Blume-Capel model on the triangular lattice
We investigate the spin-$1$ Blume-Capel model on an infinite strip of the triangular lattice using the transfer-matrix method combined with a sparse-matrix factorization technique. Through finite-size scaling analysis of numerically exact spectra for strip widths up to $L = 19$, we accurately locate the tricritical point improving upon recent Monte Carlo estimates. We propose a scheme that induces quantum correlations in optomtomechanical systems. Our benchmark system consists of two optically coupled optical cavities which interact with a common mechanical resonator. The optical cavities host saturable nonlinearity which triggers either gain or losses in each cavity. This paper investigates critical mechanical failures during stand-alone thermocycling of ATLAS Inner Tracker strip pre-production modules. Five modules undergo extended thermocycling after adequately levelling thermal chucks and introducing interlocks for unattended operation. Module bow evolution is tracked via regular sensor metrology.
