A very stupid workaround (as explained in the article, this has to be done at the factory to make it an officially different product), with the only goal to make it live harder for EV drivers by not offering card payments.

Fortunately, Bill was one of the named authors in the revised edition, along with Ralph Bottrill, in 2008.
Bill was a real gentleman, and it was an honour to have known him.
