Las flores atraen insectos que le polinizan y sus frutos son muy apetecidos por aves psitaciformes, como loras, pericos, lapas, etc.
Los šrboles de almendro de playa tienen hojas grandes y dan una excelente sombra, su tronco crece verticalmente y sus ramificaciones son horizontales, por eso se encuentran mucho en aceras y patios de casas en el valle central de Costa Rica.
