Maybe a ray of light about bursting tech bubbles is that in the aftermath companies scramble to make actually amazing and useful products.
You could argue that iPods and later the iPhone were such products after the dot-com bubble.

After the Bubble

Proton: an incredible feat of software engineering; a Rube Goldberg machine that brought Windows gaming to Linux seemingly overnight after decades of Windows domination.
Copilot: a black box inflationary doodad riding the Nvidia wings after the crypto bubble; airplanes not falling from sky only because traffic control probably doesn't have it installed on critical hardware.

My profession (software design, programming) makes me so sad currently.
A speedrun to rock bottom chasing non-existing sand sentience with ever more abstruse magical thinking while whole swaths of my peers are masturbating to fascism in hopes of striking it rich.
I hope after the bubble pops and the boomers are gone there will be a reckoning and a reset to making software that actually strives to make human lives better.

This tragic misshapen lump is the last time I stuff a bauble with batting. It's polystyrene balls all the way from now on. 70mm balls with 3.75mms and DK all works very nicely. If everyone's very good I'll post a photo tomorrow of the one I made for my sister in law, which is on a polystyrene ball and looks much better. I've thrown in the towel for tonight after going wrong testing a chart I've made for another one.
