A few highlights from the Turkish-Persian section of a random carpet symbolism book I skimmed while stopped at a random library in New Jersey a couple days ago

Tree of life: one of the oldest and most universal symbols of mankind.

It supports the sky, and provides a path from earth to heaven. In different cultures it is called by names such as haoma, asherak, yggdrasil, irminsu or asvattha.

Thus, one often sees it in prayer rugs, as a reminder of the passage from this existence into a higher life.

Diamond or Lozenge:

It has been conjectured that this omnipresent motif in Anatolian kilims is a male triangle attached to a female triangle, and thus signifies creation. There are doubtless many interpretations. A diamond surrounded by hooks is called in Turkish kirkbudatz, 'forty branches'.

Among some semi-nomadic pastoral (terekme) tribes of Azerbaijan, a favourite symbol is a large diamond, signifying woman. Smaller diamonds within the large one signify a pregnant woman or her progeny. A …

Thick mist in the woods. Only a few outlines of trees are visible, with long trunks, ragged, with branches only on their upper half. If focusing, a pathway can be recognized a bit further downhill. In front are some bushes with lush dark green leaves and a tree trunk on the right.

In front, diagonally upwards is a hill with some bright orange-brownish and light green grasses, with a tree trunk and some dead wood in between. This is contrasted by the background with swathes of mist in between darker pale green trees on hills.

Dark green trees on hills and mountains with the sun shining from behind some clouds, that are covering part of the mountain and parts of the sky. In front is a dry meadow, going downhill.

View towards the north of Carinthia. The sky is full of clouds, with some bright white parts in between greyer areas. In front are hills covered by trees and a meadow on the middle hill. Abstract: Mesoscale self-assembly provides a route toward the design of programmable microsystems. Here, we construct flexible chains of floating monomers whose curved branches impose upward or downward deformations of the liquid interface, corresponding to effective positive or negative capillary charges. These geometrically encoded deformations generate local attractive or repulsive interactions along the chain. By tuning the capillary sequence, we obtain distinct folded configurations, including straight lines, zigzag patterns, and loops. For short chains, folding is largely governed by nearest-neighbor interactions and leads to well-defined structures. As the chain length increases and non-neighboring segments come into proximity and interact, however, the folding landscape becomes increasingly complex, with multiple metastable states whose number grows exponentially with chain length. We map these landscapes numerically and demonstrate experimentally that mechanical agitation allows the chains to transition between metastable configurations. Beyond encoding a target geometry, the capillary sequence therefore controls the complexity of the folding landscape as well as the degeneracy and mutational robustness of folded structures. These results establish capillary chains as a controllable mesoscale platform for investigating how local interaction rules give rise to collective folding and complex sequence-to-structure relationships reminiscent of those encountered in biomolecular systems.

The upper Bluntau lake photographed from the south from a low perspective. The water is greenish and has lots of small horizontal waves. In front, the water is clear and the stones and some branches below the surface are visible. In the back are trees, the ones on the sides closer making the water darker with their reflection broken by the waves. In the far back, mountains are visible.

The lower Bluntau lake with a very intense lime green tint. Three ducks and two fish can be seen swimming on and in the water. There is some dead wood in front, a small wooden house and some trees in the back, that are reflected in the water.

The lower Bluntau lake with a turquoise tint. On the left is fallen wood covered with moss, from which a new tree has grown, in the middle is a branch with red roots(?) where it touches the lake. On the front right is also dead wood in the lake, but without anything fancy to it. Some red leaves lie on the water in the front, one smaller and one larger fish can be seen a bit further back. In the back are trees reflected in the water.

The Torrenrache riverbed, with its water shimmering in the afternoon sun. There is not much water, the riverbed is full of white stones and a few with different colors. In the back are some trees.

Abstract: The deformation algorithm based on conservation laws can lift (1 1)-dimensional integrable systems to higher-dimensional counterparts while preserving Lax integrability, yet its generalization to (2 1)-dimensional models has remained an open problem. This paper establishes a unified deformation framework for two (2 1)-dimensional integrable equations: the anisotropic Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation and the isotropic Nizhnik-Novikov-Veselov (NNV) equation. By introducing a set of mutually commuting field-dependent deformation operators, we systematically construct infinite families of ($m 3$)-dimensional integrable KP and NNV hierarchies, derive their closed-form Lax pairs, and rigorously verify integrability via the vanishing commutator condition of Lax operators. For each high-dimensional hierarchy, concrete finite-dimensional master systems are obtained by truncating auxiliary spatial variables: a (3 1)-dimensional KP system and a (4 1)-dimensional generalized NNV system. Further symmetry reductions recover the original (2 1)-dimensional KP and NNV equations, and more importantly produce two distinct Harry-Dym (HD)-type reciprocal integrable systems. The KP reduction yields an anisotropic (2 1)-dimensional HD model, while the NNV reduction generates the first spatially isotropic two-space-dimensional HD system reported so far, filling a notable gap in existing literature. Parallel comparison of the KP and NNV branches reveals that the spatial symmetry of the original two-dimensional parent equation directly governs the symmetry properties of its high-dimensional deformations and HD dual subsystems. Our work not only extends the conservation-law deformation conjecture beyond (1 1)-dimensions to accommodate both strong Lax and weak Lax structures, but also provides a universal route to construct reciprocal links for multi-dimensional integrable systems.

I spend so much time with Claude Code but I am constantly worried about how someone with less experience is supposed to get good outcomes. I'm a VERY experienced developer/maintainer but WTF Claude just flipped the ahead/behind commit count on a list of branches and tried to get me to clean up everything that was up to date. I'd specifically asked for written file report and a count/summary before we started, and It "smelled" wrong when I saw them, but is so easy to miss these things!

While i was typing this, the wind hit. And hit it did. Electricity gone for minutes, twice. Unable to close the shutters at the front, so first close the back of the house, finally the front and then admire the chaose of branches inside, smashed plants and pots.
