Teaching with AI: Human Days and AI Days
In my previous post I outlined a plan for a no-tech pedagogy that would prevent students from using AI to do the assignments. However, my colleagues tell me that current policy at the university where I used to teach requires the use of AI in some classes. They have also eliminated the budget for photocopying handouts and texts. Everything must be delivered through the Learning Management System, which in this case is Canvas.

I have a new fun game. Towards pay day I start putting anything on eBay that I'd like to buy into my basket - this month bathroom scales, various health foods, saddle soap for my leather hat and a canvas laundry basket - then on the day I'm paid I can just hit the button. It's similar to fantasy shopping but you do actually have to pay for the stuff £££

#HappyBirthday to my eldest daughter and, coincidentally, one of my favourite painters, Tom Thomson. Born in 1877 and raised in rural Ontario, Thomson displayed no immediate artistic talent and worked several jobs in sign making and graphic design. He didn't start painting seriously until he was almost 30, and during his short career, he produced roughly 400 oil sketches on small wood panels and approximately 50 larger works on canvas. His art consists almost entirely of landscapes, depicting trees, skies, lakes, and rivers. An excellent collection of his work can be seen at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg.
