Given it's in the news:
UK charity law prevents charities from undertaking political activities. And yet some charities clearly cover political issues?
What happens is the "organisation" consists of a charity that operates according to the law (e.g. educational activities) , and a non-profit with a similar name that *just* undertakes the activities the charity cannot. And they just need to ensure that no income from charitable giving goes to the non-charity wing.

The only sound policy would be a presumption AGAINST development.

Sumner Games Done Quick is the summer half of the biannual charity speedrunning marathon, raising money for Medicins Sans Frontiers (Doctors Without Borders). If you enjoy videogames, it's always got at least a couple of really amazing runs to watch, and the way that the community has remained trans-inclusive in the face of gamer bro criticism is a beautiful thing to see.

Beyond enjoying watching the runs, I often find some new indie game I want to play in the marathon. Plus the community atmosphere of the longer RPG runs is super cozy, even from afar.
I'll probably be watching a bunch of stuff via VODs instead of live; once things are uploaded you can access videos right from the schedule is that's more your jam.

I even bought some actual books printed on actual paper. Its a bit sad, but DRM these days is somewhere between hard and impossible to break, unless you own Amazon hardware, and the trees will just have to take it.
They also don't drain the battery.
I think I'm moving to paper in general. Mostly only reading in bed anyway.
Which is ironic, because I will definitely take the paper books to a charity shop when I have read them so they will be shared whereas if they gave me a DRM-free copy I could read with my open hardware I doubt anyone other than me would read it.
